Mirror Dinghy Reefing sails - Part 2 - Reefing the Jib myself!
So with sails measured up, I take the plunge and reef my jib all on my own!! I know I probably don't need to reef the jib, but it's all good fun and it will determine whether I reef the mainsail myself. My sewing and sewing machine isn't really up to the job if i'm being honest but I think I "just" got away with it!! We'll see how well it works when we next get some string winds! Needless to say, here's the whole reefing process I followed from start to finish so I hope it helps anyone trying to do the same. 00:00 Jib sheet clip 01:43 Dacron stick on sail tape design 02:58 the thread i'm using 03:46 Creating the reinforcing patches 06:47 Double checking the dimensions 07:30 Sticking the new patches down 10:19 Positioning the eyelet holes 12:47 Setting up the sewing machine 13:43 Sewing the patches 15:23 Hammering the eyelets in 16:54 Patching the reefing holes 18:58 Attaching the reef lines 23:01 The finished product!!
