Komodo is one of the premier snorkeling regions of Indonesia and we’ll be based at the beautiful Komodo Resort for the first leg of this tour. This resort is situated on its own private island complete with hiking trails, a spa, decadent meals, and an outstanding house reef. Better yet, the resort is on the doorsteps to the boundary of the national park where we will encounter turtles, reef sharks, cephalopods, and almost certainly giant manta rays! Misool is the southernmost set of islands in Raja Ampat, and is truly a paradise brimming with pristine coral reefs and more exotic marine species than you possibly count in a single trip. Misool Resort is the only resort in this entire – largely uninhabited – area and yet the comfort and style of this resort is second to none. Because of the amazing conservation efforts taken on by the resort, the surrounding waters are densely populated with sharks, rays, and swarms of fish big and small.

Em 2022 fui visitar seus filhos no Canadá e meu filho mais velho tinha comprado um pequeno veleiro para navegar no lago de Montreal. Então, num passeio nessa pequena embarcação, meu filho iniciou um diálogo mais ou menos assim: - Velho! Você já foi um grande aventureiro por que não faz mais uma aventura? - Que aventura, cara! – respondi. - Vir de Veleiro do Brasil até o Canadá. Você precisa sair de casa. Precisa de objetivos de vida. - Você está louco? Nunca naveguei e não tenho dinheiro para comprar um veleiro! – retruquei. - Você não tem uma Previdência Privada? - Sim. Tenho. Mas ela é para quando eu ficar velho. É para minha saúde – respondi. - Mas você já não está velho? (emitiu uma sonora gargalhada). Então você retira esse dinheiro e compra um veleiro. Comece a estudar, assistir vídeos e ler livros. Depois você vende o veleiro e repõe a grana. A sugestão do filho foi como um trauma mental para seu velho pai. A partir desse dia aprender sobre velas tornou-se minha obsessão. Tudo na na minha vida foi relacionado à navegação. Comecei a devorar livros e assistir todo tipo de vídeo no YouTube. No primeiro semestre de 2023 tirei a habilitação da Marinha para navegar em lagos (pré-requisito para as demais). No segundo semestre consegui a carteira de Mestre Amador e, finalmente, em abril de 2024, conseguiu a mais temida e difícil prova aplicada pela Marinha do Brasil: Capitão Amador. O material de estudo para essa prova foi enorme. Vários livros, apostilas, curso grátis no YouTube e sites pagos. Havia dias que o velho pensava que seria impossível passar na prova. Coisas estudadas era rapidamente esquecida pela memória sexagenária. A grana para compra do Veleiro estava resguardada. Era só esperar o momento oportuno. Entretanto, restavam, ainda duas questões muito importantes: arrumar uma companheira de viagem e equacionar os custos da viagem com sua pequena aposentadoria. A conclusão foi que a grana seria insuficiente, principalmente quando as despesas fossem em outra moeda. Para piorar, descobriu que chegando ao Canadá, seria muito difícil voltar no mesmo caminho, tendo em vista que existe uma corrente marítima contrária. O caminho de volta mais fácil teria que ser pela Europa e África. Ou seja, gastar em euros. O visto para entrada em cada ilha ou país corresponderá a um quarto da minha renda, sem contar comida, óleo diesel e manutenção no veleiro tudo em dólar ou Euro. Apesar dos estudos orçamentários indicar a inviabilidade do projeto, no dia 14/10/24 mudei para um veleiro adquirido na cidade de Salvador.

We did a collaboration with Clayton Offroad and their 2.5" Long Arm Suspension Kit back in 2016 and have put some 60 thousand miles on this setup. Après des semaines de boulot sur le voilier à Fidji, nous pensions enfin voir le bout du tunnel. Au moment où le moteur est enfin réparé, une nouvelle tuile nous tombe dessus : mon ordinateur rend l’âme. Et sans ordinateur, impossible de monter les vidéos et de continuer à partager nos aventures avec vous. J’ai franchement hésité à tout arrêter. Mais Tom m’a encouragé : on ne peut pas abandonner tout ce que nous avons construit au fil des années. Notre chaîne YouTube grandit petit à petit, et il y a cette incroyable communauté qui attend nos vidéos chaque semaine et nous envoie tant de beaux messages d’encouragement. Tom est malade. Il traîne une sale bronchite depuis plusieurs semaines et reste à bord pour se reposer. Je décide alors de partir seule à Sydney. Ce qui devait être un simple aller-retour pour acheter un nouvel ordinateur s’est finalement transformé en une parenthèse inattendue. Jimmie Lowe hails from the Bahamas where the wind blows across the turquoise water. The Bahmas host the last leg of the Snipe Winter Circuit that begins in Clearwater, travels to Miami for the Don Q and ends in Nassau. Jimmie and his wife Lori have traveled around the world sailing Snipes. They always look at the next regatta as an opportunity to catch up with other members of the Snipe family. And just like any family, they take a lot of pride is seeing just how well the current crop of Jr. Snipers are doing -- Nick Voss from Florida finished 8th in the Snipe Worlds in San Diego. Spindrift is in the middle of the Atlantic approaching the Azores, ans they are going to sail through a corridor of wind ans sea optimal conditions. To undertake the crewed around-the-world record is as much about the human adventure as it is a technical and sporting challenge. The men and women working alongside Dona Bertarelli and Yann Guichard at Spindrift racing have been preparing this race against the clock for almost three years. The target: to sail around the world in less than 45 days, 13 hours and 42 minutes. The tough record they will try to beat was set by Loïck Peyron and his crew in 2012 on Banque Populaire V, which was renamed Spindrift 2 a year later. The French-Swiss team decided to use the same 40 m trimaran because they believed that the boat could be further optimised, a task that sailors, engineers and technicians at the team have been working on ever since.
