Mr.Vong erläuterte uns die beiden Einnahmequellen dieses Dorfes: zum Einen wurde hier Reiswein und Reiswhiskey hergestellt und zum Anderen gab es sehr viele kleine Webereien. With nothing but open ocean from the bottom of Australia/New Zealand to Antartica; 1,000nm to the south, the ocean swell can build in height with no land to stop it for more than 2,500nm until it hits the shores of the Pacific Islands. There are many reasons why more people have climbed Mount Everest than have sailed across the Tasman Sea and the rapidly changing nature of the Tasman Sea's weather system is one of them. I have crossed the Tasman Sea six times (two solo) and the keys to success include waiting for the weather window, downloading live weather en-route and sailing a vessel thats easy to mode for all wind and swell conditions. Despite its reputation for extreme conditions, the Tasman Sea is easy to cross safely if you stay clear of the winter storm season (late May to August) and wait for a safe weather window. It’s an absolute bucket-list voyage and a hugely satisfying personal achievement. We'll depart Southport and spend the first 7-8 hours getting clear of the Australian Coast, before setting a course toward the top of New Zealand's North Island to the destination of Opua in the Bay of Islands, where we will stop briefly and clear customs, before continuing to Auckland (known as the City of Sails) and the current home of the Americas Cup. The sea life, milky way, phosphorescence and tranquility of crossing an ocean and seeing no other vessels for the bulk of the voyage, really make this a special sailing experience.

Join the fantastic crew of the Quino El Guardian, world-renown whale shark researcher Dr. Dení Ramírez Macías, and her team as we return to attempt to ultrasound pregnant whale sharks and manta rays in the Archipielago of Revillagigedo again! The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) and the giant manta ray (Mobula birostris) are filter feeder elasmobranchs. In some countries, these species constitute a fishing resource, while in other countries, they are more valuable as an opportunity to attract tourism. Therefore, the sustainable exploitation of these species depends significantly on the knowledge of their populations. This knowledge is minimal. Both species are especially vulnerable due to their biological characteristics as they are slow-growing, late to reach sexual maturity, and found in small populations. All of this is why the IUCN Red List recognizes these species for the Conservation of Nature. In the Archipielago de Revillagigedo, we can find giant manta rays and whale sharks that enable Dr. Dení Ramírez Macías and her team to study these charismatic giants. Their studies have focused on demonstrating the presence of pregnant females in both species showing that this is a critical habitat for these elasmobranchs and requires a top priority for its conservation. Our expedition will focus on obtaining an ultrasound in females of both species to corroborate that they are pregnant and to evaluate the degree of the embryonic development. This information will help to substantiate the theory that these waters are necessary for reproduction and to strengthen the protection of habitat for the conservation of the species. A second goal will be to place a satellite tag to see her movements. Our goal is to use the regular itinerary for diving in Socorro, knowing that we will be open to using any opportunity that presents itself to ultrasound whale sharks and manta rays. Deni will also be doing presentations throughout the trip. These presentations will include but not be limited to: Presentations: 1. Following the Giants: Whale Sharks 2. Conservation Biology of the Whale Shark 3. The Giant Manta Rays from Revillagigedo 4. Ultrasound on Mobula Rays 5. I3S software for whale shark and giant manta ray photo identification ABOUT DR. DENI RAMIREZ Dr. Dení Ramírez-Macías is the director of Whale Shark Mexico, a passionate conservationist, powerful advocate for the ocean, and pioneer in her field. As a scientist, her innovations both above and below the sea have led to the founding of multiple NGO’s, numerous scientific publications, advanced the careers of her students, and has inspired future generations to take an active role in ocean conservation. As a scuba diver, she is applying scientific research methods to her work underwater, most recently by ultra-sounding pregnant whale sharks and manta rays in an effort to learn more about their reproduction. Her work is being used to create three protected areas in Mexico. Deni's research has taken her around the world and her research has been part of several international films including the National Geographic Discovery Chanel. Deni was inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame in 2020.

Wings III is a custom built sailing and adventure catamaran, designed by Angelo Lavranos specifically to operate in the Whitsunday area. Wings III was designed to "Sleep aboard and wake up in paradise". The design started with her sistership Wings II, another of Angelo's designs and to this another 3m and about 5 tonnes overall was added by the time she launchedWings III was designed to be able to operate comfortably for crew and guests on extended journeys in a wide range of weather conditions while conducting a range of water activities while at anchor; while still maintaining decent sailing performance on the longer legs of her journeys around the Whitsunday Islands and Outer Great Barrier Reef reef systems. As the boat had a design criteria to work amongst offshore reef systems her keels are slightly shallower than her little sister and her hulls are slightly more beamy giving her a larger interior volume.While she's no racing cat, she can maintain a 10 knot boat speed under sail when returning from the outer great barrier reef in a fresh breeze on an ocean that has a few bumps. The operational limits for Wings III is the entire Queensland coast as per the Class C operational limits in the Great Barrier Reef. Our area of operation is the Whitsunday Island Group and associated Great Barrier Reef systems within approximately 50 nautical miles of these islands on extended private charters. Wings III has a 365 day Whitsundays Islands operational marine park permit and 365 day National Park access to Whitehaven Beach and Tongue bay / Hill inlet on Whitsunday Island. Many areas in the Whitsundays have limits to entry based on the total number of people onboard a boat. All Wings marine park permits are also for the entire Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Wings III also has a charter fishing licence for "General use" and "Habitat Protection areas". Whilst Wings vessels do not run charter fishing tours as such, sometimes it's great to put a line in of an evening or for some people it can be the opportunity to catch their first fish. All Wings boats carry basic fishing gear and squid jigs just for a little fun when we have the time and the zoning of the area allows. Charter fishing includes line fishing, spear fishing, game fishing and bottom fishing and WingsIII is a great mothership for these activities. Из Греции на автобусе приехали в Саранду, Албания. Недельный прогноз погоды - дождь, но на второй день вышло солнце. Сезон закончен, городишко был пустой. Никаких экскурсий... ничего.... Туристов нет. .... Ознакомился с городом, хватило два дня, взял билет на паром (ракета на подводных крыльях как в бывшем союзе) и вернулся на Корфу(Греция) так как мне поступило предложение присоединиться к команде и сесть на лодку... По прибытии на Корфу чувствовал себя как дома, ведь был здесь 10 дней назад и все уже знал... Задерживаться на острове не стал Сразу же взял другой паром и вернулся в Игуменицу (материковая Греция). В Игуменице провел полдня ( в фильме этого нет). В обед сел на автобус и поехал на Юг Греции в город Каламата. Расстояние 500 км, но прямого сообщения не было... пришлось поменять 3 автобуса. В итоге дорога заняла два дня .... Прибыл в Каламату 11-ого Октября... ...18 Октября в Каламате сажусь на лодку (Ребята идут из Турции), а пока у меня неделя на знакомство с городом и окрестностями ... ============================================================= we took a bus from Kalambaka, Greece to Saranda, Albania.Weekly weather forecast was rain, but on the second day the sun came out. I Immediately took another ferry and returned to Igoumenitsa (mainland Greece). I spent half a day in Igoumenitsa (this is not in the film). At lunch I got on a bus and went to the south of Greece to the city of Kalamata. The distance was 500 km, but there was no direct connection... I had to change 3 buses. The journey ended up taking two days.
