Sailing vessel Tapatya with Sailing Alanouwoly This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. You make a real difference!! If you'd like to throw a few bucks in the kitty in appreciation of the efforts here, you can do this by; Joining the Patreon crew - https://www.patreon.com/sv_tapatya Supporting us on PayPal - https://www.paypal.me/svtapatya SV Tapatya merchandising - https://www.svtapatya.com/shop.html or via the tips jar; http://www.svtapatya.com/the-tips-jar.html Hazel's channel; / @sailingalanouwoly Check out Hazel's music at https://music.apple.com/us/album/1503250522?app=itunes Music from these videos is available from: https://ynotb.bandcamp.com/album/a-slow-boat-to-spain-and-beyond Thank you :-) Tony

A seriously refined take on a timeless design, this is the kind of boat you step into when you’re no longer choosing between form and function. THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS Mention Code DBL for discounts on Marine Mold Construction - https://ms-marine.eu/ BOAT BUILDERS Publication & feature enquiries https://dansboatlife.com/boat-builders BOAT BUYERS Patreon membership & member benefits https://dansboatlife.com/boat-buyers BOAT OWNERS Join the course waitlist https://dansboatlife.com/courses BRAND: https://www.rivieraaustralia.com/models/belize-66-daybridge/ PRICE: https://www.rivieraaustralia.com/contact-us/ Watch part2 https://youtu.be/dsx0pWapzMg The Belize 66 Daybridge brings together classic lines with modern engineering in a way that feels deliberate, not forced. Underneath it all, you’ve got a proven Riviera backbone, solid construction, IPS diesels, and a hull that’s built to be used, not just admired. What stands out is the balance. It’s composed and predictable when you need precision… but open it up, and there’s real capability there. This isn’t a fragile showpiece; it’s a platform you can actually run, whether that’s owner-operated or lightly crewed, depending on how you use it. There’s a quiet confidence to this boat. Nothing feels overdone, nothing feels lacking. For the right owner, this isn’t just a lifestyle upgrade; it’s a long-term move into something that simply works.

Rescued at sea. This is the tale of how Andy was airlifted from the middle of the Bristol Channel with severe chest pain. We didn't know it but we were blindly sailing towards a very scary medical situation. We set out from Torquay with the intention of sailing directly to North Wales in one go. But things took a dramatic turn when the skipper developed chest pain at the worst possible time. We set out for a 300nm passage to the Solomon Islands, but the ocean had other plans. What started as a frustratingly slow crawl to Grassy Islet—taking an entire day just to cover the first 15 miles—quickly turned into a sailor's nightmare. In the middle of the night, the "no wind" struggle vanished, replaced by violent, unpredictable squalls. We fought the elements for hours until the sound we dreaded most echoed through the dark: the screecher finally gave way. With 300 miles of open ocean to cover and a damaged sail, it was a challenging time to say the least. From the exhaustion of the storm to a breathtaking 3:00 AM arrival guided by dolphins and shooting stars, you really seem to experience the full spectrum of life out here.
