More wind and more stable conditions in Hayling Bay allowed for three races to be banged off in quick succession at the RC44 Portsmouth Cup today. While a 10th place in the first race finally put a blemish on the score line of Vladimir Prosikhin's Team Nika, the Russian team subsequently posted a consistent 2-2. As a result they continue to lead this third event in the 2016 RC44 Championship. But demonstrating how close the RC44 fleet is at this stage of their season, across the six races sailed so far, there have been six different winners. And even a boat which to date hasn't scored a race win at the RC44 Portsmouth Cup, or indeed a second, was today's second top scoring boat in Artemis Racing Youth. What the opening day of the 44Cup in Cowes lacked in sunshine it more than made up for with close racing. The morning had started with just 8-10 knots of breeze and flat seas but, as the day played out a series of subtle changes took place that kept everyone from trimmers to tacticians on their toes. The two most notable factors involved the breeze building to a peak of around 15 knots and the tide turning in the middle of the day. Both helped to deliver some very close racing and revealed one team in particular that was clearly in the groove.

The Annapolis Sailboat Show is the place to be in October. Once again, I returned for the 24th time with Toni to see and to be seen. We checked out a beautiful Seawind 1160 that had the forward cushions and the flexiteek options installed and confirmed our final decisions with these options. We explored the Vision 444, reminisced on the DragonFly 32 Trimaran, and wandered onboard the Neel 43 Trimaran. I ogled the Yanmar 3YM30AE much to Toni’s dismay and touched every exhibit that piqued our interest. We met some “No Agenda” fans and started to look at ideas for equipping our boat when it arrives, hopefully in early 2024. We looked at the EVA foam decking but we are not sold on it, however we included a link below because there was quite a buzz about it on the various boats. I have a water tank connected to a pump connected to a splitter. one feed from the splitter goes to a 30 liter water heater, and then to the hot side of a thermostatic mixing tap, the other side of the splitter goes directly to the cold side of the mixing tap. The mixing tap is connected to a shower head. It might sound like a lot but it's actually very simple.
