While the media talk about the work to be finished at the Olympic Village, sailors arriving in Rio are starting to enjoy the atmosphere of this great city. People dancing in the street and making every day a day to smile… Brazilian character is spreading among the Olympic family and promises emotions at the maximum level at South America's first Olympics. Will the Brazilian sailors take advantage of the “torcida brasileira” and shine on the water when the sailing competition starts on Monday 8 August? World Sailing talked to Beijing 2008 medallist Isabel Swan and windsurfer Ricardo ‘Bimba’ Winicki. For them Rio 2016 is a dream coming true that will leave an important legacy for the city, for Guanabara Bay, for the Brazilian sailing sport… and for the kids. In our 2nd Volvo Ocean Race report on Leg 2 from Auckland to Itajai Brazil the boats are gybing down the Ice Gate at 35 knots in 35-40 knots of wind. Reports from Brunel, MAPFRE, Turn The Tide On Plastic, Scallywag, Vestas and the Daily Report on March 24.18. All report horrible conditions but great, exciting sailing. Scallywag has a equipmenyt failure that has them bybe away north for quieter conditions to fix it and thus losing more distance from the leaders. But Witty says they are only 100 miles behind and a lot of miles to go. http://www.alldaycruise.net Enjoy a fantastic day out at sea accompanied by fine wine and delicious Mediterranean meze on our semi-private unique, wooden sailing boat “Alexandros”. We will travel all along the mesmerizing Saronic Sea, and its main attractions the islands of Agistri, Moni and Aegina. The excursion begins at Marina Zeas where guests are expected to come on board at 08:45 am. The first stop of the cruise is the island of Agistri, surrounded by vibrant blue waters and clothed in pine trees. Here you can connect with the lush nature and feel the presence of ancients Greeks and deities while swimming and relaxing on the hot fine sand of the long flax-golden beach between Megalochori and Skala. Adventure lovers can join our optional bike tour between Melalochori and Chalikiada Beach. From there, we move onto the island of Moni. On the way there , we will serve a delicious traditional Greek lunch, accompanied by traditional wine, beers soft drinks and coffee. Once you finished your feast, you have the chance to jump off the boat, snorkel, swim around the boat, or swim to the island. This gorgeous and unique island has no inhabitants but is populated with law protected deer, wild goats, rabbits and peacocks which you can feed and interact with. We will make a final journey around 3pm towards the beautiful island of Aegina. Aegina is famous for its white stone houses, flowery backyards, pistachios, the red volcanic landscape, sensational food, the temple of Apollo and the temple of Aphaia; in fewer words an earthly paradise for those who want to escape modern life. Here you will enjoy the crystal-clear water and sandy beaches of the island, while exploring the breath-taking waterfront and traditional Greek cuisine. An excellent selection of jewellery, clothes and textiles are available from the locals. At approx. 4:45pm we will sail back to the port of Marina Zeas while enjoying the ambiance of a select and chill music, delicious Mediterranean fruits, coffee, and snacks.
Guest host Joe Richardson interviews Jason Ker, founder of Ker Yacht Design onboard his very own ‘Ker designed’ 19.2m (63 feet) racer/cruiser yacht “Dark Horse of England”. Jason Ker launched Ker Yacht Design than 20 years ago and he talks about how he got started in yacht design, his ocean racing experiences with both the Fastnet and Sydney Hobart Races under his belt. He lives by the design philosophy that “you are only as good as your last boat”. With success all over the world, it’s a fascinating and technical insight into the mind of one of the world’s leading yacht designers with proven pedigree ranging from monohulls to cats, cruisers to grand prix ocean racers and he shares the highs and lows of the GFC and financial risks of designing for the Americas Cup. Jason talks about yacht design 10 years from now and what the future might look like. Find out more about podcast content and sailing opportunities: https://www.oceansailingpodcast.com

Teaching some first time sailors how to surf the Hawaiian swell. The challenge is always getting upwind, but once you’re there, the ride back down is epic. Our Corsair F-31R might as well be a 31ft surfboard. We typically get a 5 knot boost once we drop in. 4ft, wide rolling swell outside Diamond Head (Oahu, HI) this day. The perfect size for a smooth ride downwind. Basic strategy to catch a wave: Turn the boat to a beam reach with waves quartering off the stern. When a set comes through, wait for the bow to start dropping behind the preceding wave before you start your turn to leeward. From here it’s all about acceleration and smooth turns. If the boat starts accelerating, continue your turn down (to leeward). If you catch the wave hold it boat strait down the wave until the acceleration slows. At this point an immediate (but smooth) turn back up (to windward) will power the sails again. If it all works out you’ll find yourself weaving down ocean swell like a pro surfer. Do it singlehanded or grab a friend to work the mainsheet. If you miss a wave, there’s another one right behind it. Have fun! Note to future guests: jeans not recommended on Corsair trimarans unless you enjoy soggy bottoms. 😆
A quick few clips from my June 2020 trip to Maine from SC. We had the best days run, 214 miles in 24 hours. All downwind and with only the mainsail. Great Gulf Stream sailing

Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love
In Kekova we want to meet up with Joanna, Marcel and Nico the ship's dog. The three of them have been sailing the oceans for seven years (www.chulugi.de). They spent a year - due to corona - in India. A few weeks ago, they set off to sail non-stop across the Indian Ocean and right through pirate territory to the Red Sea. Through the Suez Canal they reached the Mediterranean Sea and finally Turkey, where we supported them as best we could. By messenger and telephone. Now we are meeting them for the first time.
In this video, we are a bit scattered and rushed to finish the last of our major projects on Kaizen. We had three weeks left at Green cove springs marina and a lot of projects to finish before then. We begin to fit and place our solar panels, while also installing our fanny bars. We also finally found an outboard motor for our dinghy and got back our galvanized chain and anchor.
