Es ist immer ein spannender Moment, wenn das Boot aus dem Wasser gekrant wird. Vor allem wenn der letzte "Landausflug" bereits 3,5 Jahre her ist und der letzte Unterwasseranstrich sogar gut 4,5. Wie hat sich das Coppercoat geschlagen? Oder muss es gar erneuert werden? Neben den gängigen Check ups müssen die vier Motorlager gewechselt werden, das Wellenlager ist schwergängig und die Stopfbuchse muss ebenfalls ausgetauscht werden. Die Reserveteile habe ich alle im Vorfeld besorgt, um unnötige Lieferzeiten zu vermeiden. Mal schauen, ob es dabei bleibt.

Wind und Wetter lassen eine Weiterfahrt nach Kuba derzeit nicht zu. Mit dem geplanten Abstecher über die Cayman Islands liegen etwa 450 Seemeilen vor uns. Doch eine Schlechtwetterfront mit Böen um die 40 Knoten und meterhohen Wellen im Karibischen Meer jagt die nächste. Also warten wir ab. Und es gibt wirklich schlechtere Orte als die Bay Islands vor Honduras. Außerdem haben wir so Zeit, ein paar weitere Jobs zu erledigen. Arzum packt die Nähmaschine aus und wir wechseln nach vier Jahren zum ersten Mal die Membran am Wassermacher. Vor allem aber genießen wir die sonnigen Tage zwischen all dem Regen.
