Turns out, the entire coast of Portugal is a trap! :) Every time there is a Westerly winds 15-20kns or more (pretty much always after September), the waves are huge and most of the ports alone the coast are closed. And they can be closed for days and days! I've spend one week in Porto, Portugal waiting for the weather window. There were constant rain, wind and waves, but it was a pleasant experience nevertheless. I'll miss Porto! Juni 2020: Tauchen an der traumhaften Isolotti dei Monaci. So schön es auch ist...auch hier ist die fortschreitende Belastung des Mittelmeers sichtbar. Überfischung und Überdüngung des Meeres sind die Folgen. (Schleimalgen unterhalb der Brandungszone von ca. 20m Tiefe und wenig Großfisch im Vergleich zu vor 30 Jahren) Gefilmt wurde mir einer Sony RX100Va Das Video gewann 2020 im Actioncup den 2. Platz

Bilan sur cette balade 2023 Canaries - Porto Santo - Açores – Cap Vert -Sénégal. LES PAYS Îles Canaries : Plusieurs escales sur un total de 5 mois à la Gomera notre coup de cœur. Pourquoi cette île est notre coup de cœur ? île préservée du tourisme de masse, île protégée, abrupte, diverse et belle réservée aux randonneurs. Port idéalement situé : entouré de deux plages et son village animé et authentique de San Sebastian. Bref il y fait bon vivre. Île de Porto Santo : Une petite île de sable faite pour les voiliers avec son port et sa façade sud avec sa longue et belle plage relativement protégée. Quelques coins surprenants de beauté aux extrémités de cette île restée tranquille et un peu loin de tout. Archipel des Açores : Moi qui croyais que anticyclone voulait dire grand ciel bleu... Aux Açores en été même si le vent est moins fort dans ses anticyclones, un ciel gris et une légère pluie reste omniprésente. Paysages verts et vallonnés rappelant l’Irlande ou certaines côtes de Bretagne où tout pousse. J'ai été plus été sensible au charme des Açores que Joëlle qui préfère le grand soleil. Le Sénégal : Là dépaysement total, c'est l'Afrique avec une autre culture ; celle de l’hospitalité et de la gentillesse. Dakar grande ville grouillante et polluée faite de contrastes avec certains quartiers riches et d'autres pauvres. Pas toujours facile de naviguer en voilier au Sénégal : sa côte est peu profonde et elle est truffée de filets : un véritable gymkhana permanent ! Le Sine Saloum et la Casamance aussi pas facile avec mes 2,2 mètres de tirant d'eau où je me suis quelquefois planté dans la vase. Mais cette difficulté est largement compensée par la beauté des bolongs et l'accueil formidable que l'on reçoit des villageois quand on navigue dans ces zones quelquefois reculées. La spontanéité de l'accueil est souvent touchant et émouvant, on ne connaît pas cela en Europe où règne une certaine distance. De plus dans ce pays sentiment de totale sécurité. LA NAVIGATION 4800 Mn sur un an c'est relativement peu comparé au 6700 Mn de l'année précédente. Nous allons a notre rythme et quand un endroit nous plaît on y reste sans limites de temps, par exemple à la Gomera. Nombreux couloirs de vents assez forts entre les îles des Canaries et très peu de mouillages bien abrités; on a souvent privilégié les ports aux Canaries (en moyenne 20€ nuit pour un voilier de 12 mètres). Nous avons attendu un mois à Porto Santo pour avoir un créneau favorable nous permettant de monter aux Açores. L’anticyclone des Açores souvent présent en été, permet d'avoir peu de vent avec une mer calme mais les nuages restent souvent accrochés sur les îles des Açores. Il vaut mieux partir assez tôt des Açores (début Août) car après on peut être bloqué par des dépressions. Fin de traversée Açores Canaries plutôt musclée et traversée Canaries Cap vert très tranquille. LE VOILIER Notre Dehler 42 n’était pas équipé initialement pour les longs voyages. En 2023 je l'ai donc équipé. Remplacement de la Grand Voile et du Génois qui étaient des voiles typées régate certes belles mais peu solides et qui commençaient a craquer de tous les côtés. Grand voile et Génois remplacés par des voiles en Hydranet quasi indestructibles coût : 18 000€, Ajout d'un hydrogenerateur Seatronic 600 très pratique pour les longues traversées coût : 3600€. En navigation il génère environ 10Ah au dessus de 6 nœuds, la nuit sous voile il tourne en permanence et le jour j'utilise les panneaux solaires si le soleil est présent. Ajout d'un second pilote de secours complet. Moteur de pilote Raymarine type 1 coût 2100€, pour l’électronique du pilote j'ai choisi une alternative Open Source qui me donne entière satisfaction après plusieurs essais. Cette solution PyPilot est peu coûteuse, environ 400 € si on aime bricoler en électronique et informatique.
