Join us as we finish one of the biggest jobs aboard — refinishing all the aluminum on our sailboat, including the mast, boom, crossbeam, spreaders, and davits. We’re using a professional metal conditioning power tool and a unique product called Nyalic — a clear coating not often seen in the yachting world. Most aluminum masts are painted or anodized, but Nyalic offers a long-lasting, UV-resistant finish that’s easier to apply and far less expensive than paint. Things didn’t go as planned: on the day we were set to finish the mast, Shawn had a serious pressure washer accident, sending us to the hospital for emergency surgery to prevent infection and compartment syndrome. The next day, Geri returned to the boat to finish the job alone — a tough day’s work ending just as the sun went down. Liapari was probably the hub for visiting yachts in the Solomons for about 20 years. Alas the place felt apart in 2021 when the owner/manager passed away and ownership disputes went to court! Looking at the location, one would easily imagine why this place attracted a successful marina and boatyard. Who knows what the future will bring! Since then, the new Solomons sailing hub is being built in Noro. Filmed in May 2025.

Dancing, Harbor Seals, DIY, Birds, Beach, La Jolla Still having problems with the Northern Lights generator. It starts but will stop unless the glow plug switch is continually depressed. Have been bleeding the fuel lines and replacing relays to no avail. More to come. Painted behind the salon cushions. It looks much better but a bit stinky as it is outgassing. The paint really takes several days to cure so what better time to travel. California here we come. Steve wanted to join the Mile High Club on the airplane. Karen kept up appearances by saying no. But what really happened? We touched down in San Diego hoping we might hear the sonic boom from Artemis II Orion capsule. Never did but still exciting to watch on TV.
