Koa e Kea is a Philippe Briand design, built in the Marc Pinta yard in La Rochelle France. The hull is strengthened by 1” of Airex high density closed cell foam. The yacht was purchased in Tunisia, and brought to Malta for a $1.4M spare-no-expense refit. Philippe Briand redesigned the cabin top and salon, increasing headroom and luxury while also strengthening the hull. The interior was built using Artkonboard, a lightweight cored panel material, with attention to keeping the boat light. It is covered in teak or sycamore venee sourced from a single, hand selected Burmese log. Everything installed on the yacht was selected of the highest quality, from the Antal rigging to the Villeroy & Bach sink. Relaunched in October 2013, Koa E Kea sailed extensively in the Med, where it was not uncommon to cruise at 10-12 knots on a reach with only the genoa set. Flat and relaxing in the cockpit, with the board up she sails through waters one meter deep! Drop the daggerboard and raise the main, and she can point as high as 30 degrees with speeds in the high teens! On deck, she was designed to be handled from the cockpit with single line reefing in the main, all headsails on roller furlers, and an electric winch to make it easy. The salon table is a small oval cocktail type which turns and splits to accept two leaves, becoming a dining table for four. With a push of a button, the table drops on its electrical pedestal to disappear under the sole. The interior space was designed to be organic, no corners, all round shapes and curves. There are 3 Fusion stereos connected to 17 speakers. The salon has 4 speakers and a subwoofer for listening to music, and another 4 speakers and a sub for watching movies. The cockpit features two speakers, and the aft cabin has 4 speakers and subwoofer. The cockpit pillows are covered with a $265/yard Sunbrella leopard print, no expense was spared! The boat comes with many spare parts, tools, and accessories. Spares include a high pressure water pump for the 190L/hr watermaker, autopilot actuator, and 2 Brompton folding bicycles. This trimaran has a new sails: fully batten main, jib, and genoa. The boat is ready to go, worldwide, owner is offering delivery at $2/nm plus expenses. Seeing the difference between Auckland and Whangarei was interesting on the drive north today. Waves are starting to pick up, winds are definitely gathering strength and now the rain is starting as well. We’ll keep an eye on everything here but so far we’re all safe and the boat is holding on strong. A few leaks in our windows but that’s why we’re replacing them! #cyclonevaianu #cyclonewatch #newzealand #aucklandnewzealand #sailinglifestyle
-- Credits -- Video by SolidShot Film Productions https://www.solidshot.at/ YouTube Marketing by https://www.promomasters.at/

Please Subscribe if you like our Global Sailing content, Like and Share. It helps us show our content to more sailors. Thank you. This is your weekly Global Sailing Highlights show, the World on Water, for October 17th, 2025. It was an unfortunate opening to the Australian 18 Footers League's 2025-26 summer season when strong westerly winds, gusting to more than 30 knots, forced the club to abandon Race 1 of the Sixth Spring 18ft skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour. Eleven of the fourteen teams entered for the race attempted to reach the start in the dreadful conditions that prevailed and only three were able to cross the start line after a 30 minutes delay. After being becalmed on Monday, Jasmine Harrison’s week in the Mini Globe Race turned into pure endurance at sea. A long, sleepless night brought relentless squalls, freezing cold, and then, disaster, her Hydrovane self-steering broke. To make it worse, Starlink went down for 48 hours, cutting her off from weather updates and the outside world. Then with advice from Hydrovane support, and spare parts on board, she’s now back on track, the wind’s picked up, and Starlink’s back online. In Stage 2: Y C P E Cup the Home boat heroes arrive, They’re home is the cry! It’s been a tough fight for the crew, but the achievement of crossing the Atlantic Ocean is what matters most. Talk about a close finish! What an end to a race after 27 days at sea. Hear from Team Qingdao, Team Washington D C, and Team Scotland, as they touch down in Punta del Este! After two days of strong Bise winds and fiercely contested racing for the high-performance foiling TF35 fleet, and the final in Geneva offered a complete contrast, four technical races sailed in a gentle 5 to 8 knot breezes. Returning to the circuit after a break earlier in the season, Jérôme Clerc, at the helm of Realteam Spirit with crew members Sébastien Col, Gurvan Bontemps, Léo Tetaz, Eliot Merceron, and Benjamin Amiot, showed remarkable consistency across the 14 races to claim the Grand Prix victory with a narrow two-point margin. The 2025 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 World Championships wrapped up in spectacular style with a double-race medal series that crowned three deserving world champions. Under brilliant Sardinian skies and a lively mistral breeze, Spain swept the skiff fleets while Britain claimed the foiling crown. It all came down to last day, and what a finale it was! In the Nacra 17 class, John Gimson & Anna Burnet edged out home hopes Ugolini & Giubilei in a tactical duel to claim the world title. The bi weekly, live, Sailing blog, Sailing Illustrated, helmed by "The Chairman," Tom Ehman interviewed Sail World New Zealand expert Richard Gladwell, on the latest developments in the 38th Americas Cup. If the cup interests you, then you will want to watch this.

We finally did it — our major solar upgrade on our liveaboard sailboat is complete, and it’s time for the real test. In this episode of our liveaboard sailing journey around the world, we leave the marina behind for an overnighter at anchor to see how our new off-grid solar power system performs in real cruising conditions. No shore power, no marina hookups — just renewable energy, the open water, and life on a cruising sailboat. This is a huge milestone for us as liveaboard sailors preparing to sail the world, because this solar installation was the last major boat upgrade before we begin longer passages and remote anchoring. If you're into sailing, sailboats, cruising life, boat projects, marine solar, or off-grid living, this episode shows what modern cruising sailboat life really looks like — the work behind the scenes and the freedom it creates. After weeks of boat jobs and upgrades, we finally get to enjoy the reward: dropping anchor, swimming off the boat, exploring, and spending quality time with friends. This is the lifestyle so many dream about — full-time sailing, living on a boat, slow travel by sailboat, and ocean adventure — balanced with the practical side of maintaining and upgrading a cruising yacht. Whether you're a beginner sailor, experienced cruiser, future liveaboard, or just love watching boat life and sailing adventures, this video gives a real look at testing a solar-powered sailboat system while enjoying the simple moments that make this lifestyle worth it. We share the reality of liveaboard life, anchoring out, managing power usage, and building confidence in our systems before bigger voyages. Follow along as we move closer to sailing around the world, becoming more self-sufficient, and embracing off-grid cruising. Expect sailing, anchoring, ocean swims, boat life with friends, and the kind of peaceful moments you only get when you choose travel by sailboat. If you love sailing adventures, liveaboard cruising, sailboat life, marine upgrades, and world travel by boat, you’re in the right place.
