Continuing our journey we head to Poros with friends Paul & Yvonne on board, where we are surprised to see dozens of catamarans arriving for a 4 day multihull show. As we leave we start to experience a strange change in the atmosphere, and as we arrive at our next destination the whole sky and landscape has turned orange. It's no secret we love hiking the Trinidad jungle but in one of our recent adventures we came across a creature that we hadn't seen in person yet - the world's biggest centipede! According to all the guys Trent sent pictures too, it's awesome, so in this short clip we decided to share it with the rest of you! As I've now discovered, the biggest centipede in the world is the Amazonian Giant Centipede (Scolopendra gigantea), which can grow over 30 centimeters (12 inches). It's found in South America and the Caribbean, including right here in Trinidad & Tobago. Es scheint, als wolle der Río Dulce uns nicht gehen lassen. Immer wieder müssen wir unsere Abfahrt verschieben: Probleme, Krankheiten, das Wetter. Aber dann, kurz vor dem Jahreswechsel, ist es endlich so weit. Wir verlassen die Monkey Bay Marina zusammen mit unserem Buddyboot "Intle Breeze". Der Plan ist, über den Jahreswechsel nach Honduras zu segeln, der Wind steht günstig und wir müssen das Hochwasser nutzen, um über die Sandbank zu kommen. Doch bereits auf dem Weg zur Flussmündung lässt ein nervtötendes Piepen unsere Euphorie erstarren. Der Autopilot tritt in den Streik. Fest steht, ohne funktionierenden Autopiloten verlassen wir nicht den Fluss. Aber Glück im Unglück finden wir auf dem Weg einen Experten. Jetzt beginnt das Spiel gegen die Zeit. Dauert die Reparatur zu lange, schließt der Zoll über den Jahreswechsel - und damit würden wir das Hochwasser verpassen...

Sortie en mer avec mon frère et ma belle-sœur pour leur toute première expérience en voilier. Au départ, ils étaient bien installés, tranquilles, spectateurs de la balade. Une petite manœuvre plus tard, monsieur s’est découvert une âme de capitaine, prêt à crier “À bâbord toute !” même quand on allait tout droit. Bref… on est partis à quatre, on est revenus avec un équipage au complet et un nouveau capitaine autoproclamé.

Everything was going so well. Then out of no where it just snapped. We were really thought most of our problems were fixed, but that just goes to show you how many things can go wrong on a boat. This was the last test before the big Atlantic crossing and we were really thought we had it figured out, oh well back to the drawing board. We are one day away from starting our Atlantic crossing! On our final day aboard the Lagoon 400 in Thailand, we sail back to the charter base and say goodbye to an incredible week on the water.
