Boondocking in the cargo trailer conversion

Inspecting a previous repair on my 2010 Precision 18 sailboat after finishing the sailing season in Colorado. Last year, I noticed my stern horn cleats were loose, the sealant at the deck had been broken, and they needed to be re-bedded. All boats require regular maintenance and re-bedding horn cleats, chain plates and other deck hardware is just a normal part of sailboat maintenance and ownership. Since the factory installation of the horn cleats only used stainless steel washers as backing, I decided to add a 1/2" HDPE board as a backing block to help strengthen the mounting location. I used JB Marine Weld epoxy and 3M 5200 sealant along with new stainless bolts, washers and lock nuts for this project. We finally turn south and commit to the big decision — crossing the Pacific 🌊 With a huge passage ahead of us, it’s time to stop procrastinating and start ticking off the long job list. In this video, we head into Hammock Beach Marina for a few nights to give Escapade some much-needed TLC. From deep cleaning and bleaching our canvas, whitening the gel coat on the sugar scoop, and repairing worn canvas, to installing new stainless steel to reinforce our solar panels on the existing solar arch — it’s all hands on deck. We also finally get our depth transducer and chart plotter compass reading sorted, which has been a long time coming. Despite a few unexpected setbacks, it feels amazing to make real progress and start preparing Escapade properly for what lies ahead. The Pacific is calling, and we’re getting ready to answer. We planned an early morning departure for the 150-nautical-mile sail to Ponta Delgada. But unfortunately, our anchor was fouled, so we had to call a diver to free it. To make things worse, the motor on our anchor windlass stopped working. We checked the solenoid, wiring, and all connections, which meant it could only be the motor. The divers from https://www.norbertodiver.pt/ arrived around 5:30 p.m. and quickly freed our anchor for €80. They were friendly and efficient - great service if you are unfortunate enough to get stuck. After manually getting the anchor on board, we were finally able to set off. It turned out to be a brilliant overnight sail with amazing conditions. We arrived in Ponta Delgada after dark, but since it's an easy port to enter and we've been here twice before, it wasn't an issue.
