We kicked off 2025 in Florida in the US. In February we sailed over to the Bahamas and made our way South. In June we crossed over to Turks and Caicos Islands. Late June we finally sailed to the Dominican Republic for Hurricane season. End of September we flew to Canada to visit family and enjoy the snow. And late November we flew back to our sailboat in the Dominican Republic. Phase 2 of this off-grid cabin repair… and now we’re working underneath it. With the structure still out of level, this step is all about building temporary posts to hold the house in place while we prepare for the real foundation reset. No waiting on perfect conditions—just getting under there and figuring it out. Most of this work happens after sunset. Headlamps on. Ocean waves in the background. Tools, mud, concrete, and whatever materials we can haul in from the surrounding area. Out here, plans change fast. No trip to the store. No easy resupply. So we improvise, borrow, scrounge—and keep moving. First up is finally mounting our Gen3 Starlink dish—a job that’s been on hold since we bought it almost a year ago in Greece. After sitting on the coachroof all this time, it’s time to give it a proper home on our solar arch. That means cutting the cable, feeding it through the arch and conduits, and joining it back together—fingers crossed it still works! Meanwhile, Jude brings out her trusty sewing machine to tackle a few smaller jobs, including a Velcro retaining strap for our swim platform ladder. He tenido la oportunidad de participar en el evento Barco Inclusivo, una iniciativa que acerca el mar a personas con diversidad funcional, demostrando que un mar para todos es posible. Durante este día, he visto ilusión, nervios, sonrisas… y sobre todo, he visto cómo el mar se convertía en algo mucho más grande: una experiencia de libertad, superación y disfrute compartido.
