Lee's been sailing Snipes for over 45 years. A good deal of that time its been sailing with his family -- his sister, his wife and most recently his daughter. Lee knows how much enjoyment you get changing the dynamic between father and daughter, in a way that just isn't possible in any other sport. He see's the influx of younger sailors as a sign the Class is healthy and likely to stick around for another 80 years.

Tyler grew up sailing in San Diego first in Sabots and then in Snipes crewing for his Dad. He's a big fan of how helpful everyone is in the Snipe Class whether its talking about boat tune in the parking lot or sail trim on the water. He sees everyone works at raising the level of competition for all the boats. Sailing at this year's Nationals, Tyler was one of a dozen young skippers fighting for a top 5 finish.

This summer we took the Pancake up north for a round trip of Scandinavia. Ultimate goal was to round the north cape with our plane, but there was more than enough to see along the road. First destination Copenhagen, via Roskilde airport, next stop Oslo and the magnificent fjords towards the west coast of Norway. In the last segment of Part 1 we fly north along the Norwegian coast until we cross to the even more beautiful Lofoten.

Holly met her husband at the first Snipe regatta she ever sailed. It was the North American's in 1994. Sixteen years latter, she's got two young children and expects to be sailing Snipes with them for the next 20 years. What's kept Holly so active in the Class? It's the people. She's made friends from coast to coast as she and her husband have sailed in big and small regattas around the country. That makes it no surprise that she encourages collegiate sailors to come out and get hooked.

Partecipano in genere tutti i circoli velici, dagli Yacht Club italiani e internazionali. La sfida è impegnativa: una tre giorni di prove costiere tra le isole Egadi e prove sulle boe nello specchio d'acqua tra Favignana e Trapani - una giornata viene dedicata alle prove sulle boe, due giornate ai percorsi costieri; nella giornata dedicata alle prove su boe, vengono disputate due gare.

Megan Place started sailing Snipes just over three years ago. She was in High School sailing and loved the challenges that sailing a technical boat like the Snipe offers the crew. She teamed up with Ernesto Rodriguez and the two of them placed third at last year's Snipe World Championship - the highest ranking US team at the Worlds. She believes that even though the other teams may be her competition, helping one team raises the bar for all the competitors.

This clip has been put together for Nancy Lake and her class at Wybunbury Delves Primary School, Wybunbury, near Nantwich in Cheshire, UK. Nancy is reading to her class "Kensuke's Kingdom", a story about a boy who goes sailing with his parents and becomes ship-wrecked on an island. He shares the island with a Japanese war veteran. Nancy's class is is actually aged 10-11, whereas this clip is more suitable for 5-7 year olds. That said I'm actually 40 years old and I enjoy watching it! It gives you an idea of the passage we have recently undertaken by boat from Turkey to India, which is all documented at www.followtheboat.com.
