In 1941, 16 year old Stephen D. Bechtel Jr., won the Snipe Jr. National Championship and came in 2nd in the Snipe Internationals. That's no mean feat in a class as competitive as the Snipe has been for almost 80 years. Mr. Bechtel still supports the Snipe Class and describes it as the best One Design Class out there.

Gordon Miller started sailing Snipes in 1939. now that he's almost 101 years old, he talks about some of the memories that he has about the "good old days" when boats cost $250.

Sailing a Laser on San Francisco Bay can be a physical challenge. When the North American's were held in 2008 the bay provided just enough breeze to make it fun and keep everyone working hard to get any speed advantage.

The first Kiteboard National Championship took place at Chrisy Field in the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge. its not often that you get 35 kites all coming off the line at on time and it was amazing that so few had trouble making it around the course.

Big wind and fast skiffs!!! The American Sailing League's Championship Series brings excitement and spills to San Francisco Bay. The $10,000 dash for cash in 2008 brought out 6 skiffs. This year the number is scheduled to double for the event held at PIER 39 in late August.
