Getting the fleet underway for the Cabbage Tree Island Race took three attempts with two general recalls caused by boats being over the starting line in the light conditions. A collision between Eve and Komatsu Azzurro at the start resulted in Komatsu Azzurro retiring. Black Jack 100 lead the fleet out of the Heads followed by Wild Oats XI and Wild Oats X. Black Jack 100 won line honours and G.O. was the overall winner.

After selling all of our belongings, quitting our jobs and moving onto a sailboat we spent our first year at Marina Jack Mooring Field in Sarasota Bay. Now it's time to get going! Seb and I continue sailing down the east coast of Fuerteventura until we moor at Morro Jable. The mooring is in an adjacent part of the marina where you are left to moor on your own. We are immediately warned that there are rats that climb aboard and try to get inside your boat if not careful. We spend a couple of grey days there and discover the town is a haven for German tourists, but we discover a large empty beach right next to the marina. We managed to stay two days for free as well as escaping rat free.
