We install our boat rub rail with rivets and cleaning it up. The rub rail on our boat was very weathered and hanging in some places where it had pulled loose. After getting the rust screws out that were used to fix the Boat bummer trim in places, the installation went very well. Here we are going to go over how we rivet the old boat rub rail back in place. The hardest part of this boat project was stretching the old rub rail back in place. Then we go over how we installed the rub rail cover once the rivets were all in. We head on a quest to find foam for the cockpit cushions. We manage to find conduit which we will use for the conversion of our existing sail bags into stack packs. Magnus makes a start on pulling out the superfluous stuff from the semi-installed water maker with the intention of moving most of it into the saloon where there is easier access. Guess who is super happy to be out and about on the water again? Simon and I did a tiny 8 nm test sail to Taboga, to see if the weld is holding up okay under way and everything looks quite alright. We had a really beautiful sunset sail! The next day, we move 20nm further south and take over The old sea dog’s White Shadow On the way. Karl is loving the fresh breeze, cruising along around 6 to 7 knots. It’s so good to feel the wind in my face again and to see Karl performing so well. Simon seems to be liking the ride as well and he even catches us a nice fish for dinner when we meet up with the Gypsy fleet in Punta Chame. While in Grand Cayman in March 2019, we enjoyed an hour with the friendly Stingrays! Locals refer to them as "puppies", and as you will see in the video, it's easy to see why. Feeding them squid or fish is the easy way to attract them. And when the food is gone, they are gone. They came here because a long time ago, fishermen used to come to this sandbar to clean their fish before heading in to port. And so, they keep coming!
