The Clive Hand Memorial Race is held each year at LRSC for IOM Model Yachts and helps raise funds for the RNLI. Helms from all over the UK attend for a day of competetive racing on the lake at Scotland Farm, Lincoln, UK. Model yacht racing (often refered to as Radio Sailing) is a competitive form of yacht racing run along similar lines to dinghy racing and keelboat racing. Different classes of model yacht are raced, these range from inexpensive mass produced yachts to expensive craftsman made boats. Model yacht racing is a sport in which small sailboats generally under one metre in length are raced against each other in a controlled environment such as a pond, lake, or indoor swimming pool. Their vessel, the 'Gaza Sunbird,' was illegally boarded and commandeered while attempting to deliver aid to Gaza. This act is state piracy. The Norwegian duo now hold a narrow two-point advantage over Spain, with just four points separating the top four teams from Norway, Spain, Australia, and Canada. With 10 nations in the top 10, the racing couldn’t be tighter. Spain’s Paola Barcelo and Maria Cantero impressed with their smooth teamwork, especially as Barcelo takes on the helm for the first time. Guided by legendary coach Xabi Fernandez, they’re keeping the pressure on.
