I get to finally turn on my brand new Isotherm cooling system. Having a "fridge" aboard instead of just an icebox is going to make living aboard the boat so much more comfortable. With a bit of luck part 3 should be up tomorrow :)
" ...all the stuff people are interested: the car you drive; the money in the bank; the cell phone you have. I've traded experiences for things. I don't do a lot of things..." Next up in our series of interviews with sailors, commissioned specially for our Patreon supporters, is Matt Matson of s/y Aventura. A candid chat about life as a liveaboard, leaving old lifestyles behind, changing, fear... and Muslims. Episode 04 : Santa Barbara to Monterey - with Sailor Commentary at the end of the episode. This video documents the recent sailing trip I crewed on onboard the sailing vessel The Intrepid. We motor-sailed from San Diego, California to the San Francisco Bay area. 10 days, 111 hours at sea and 470 nautical miles. The uphill battle against wind and currents, sailing north on the west coast is no pleasure cruise. The crew were as follows: Tim Brill (Owner) Cody Brill (Captain and son of Tim) Nigel Howat (English Sailor/45+ years sailing experience) & James Frederick (thats me). I have a blog where you can read all the journal entries about each leg of the passage: http://allwaysbutstill.tumblr.com I will also be uploaded each leg of the trip as "episodes" that will feature commentary at the end reading some of the journal entries and talking about what happened or what we saw on that particular part of the trip. Please subscribe if you like the video, there will be more ! About the Crew Members: Tim Brill was a professional mountaineering guide for many years and has climbed all over the world. A few years ago Tim bought The Intrepid, which became famous in 2008 as it sailed around the world by the youngest person to solo sail around the world (Zac Sunderland). Tim and his sons have completed the ASA certifications 101-108 and have several trips in the planning stages. Currently he is owns an Aerobatic Flight School in Reno, Nevada where he teaches people to fly and to do stunts. http://www.aerobaticcompany.com Cody Bril is a 15 year old sailor and sailing instructor in Reno, Nevada. He is currently shopping for his dream multihull. http://nvsailing.org Nigel Howat is certified Ocean Yacht Master and nautical handyman who owns a company with his partner Miel. They also do Yacht deliveries up the California Coast. He has been sailing from more than 45 years and has sailed the North and Mediterranean seas. http://www.nauticalknowhow.org James Frederick is a Sailor, Writer and Artist who currently resides in Los Angeles. http://allwaysbutstill.tumblr.com | https://instagram.com/all_ways_but_still | https://twitter.com/allwaysbutstill

Earlier today I started installing an Isotherm cooling system (Isotherm Classic 2006). The goal was to turn my icebox into a fridge. Turned out to be quite a long day. For now you'll only upload part 1 of 3. I really wanted to get something up tonight but at the same time sleep seems like a nice idea ;) I'm planning on publishing part 2 on Sunday (tomorrow). Have an awesome weekend guys! :) My liveaboard neighbours ("WetDreams - The dream of going to sea"): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChvZHMndxpl93gD2pA-wdXw/videos TamTam sailing, Blog: http://www.tamtam-sailing.de/ TamTam sailing, YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TamTamSailing/videos Isotherm Classic 2006: http://www.svb24.com/en/isotherm-compact-classic-system.html. It took just about two weeks to get Karl ready to leave the marina and to be back on the hook. A huge thanks goes out to Maria from www.sailjoana.com, who helped me to finally get the engine started again and taught me lots of other nifty little tricks around the boat. Enjoy, ahoy and thanks for watching, Nike & Karl Visit www.whitespotpirates.com for more info about Karl & my journey. Special thanks to No&Yo for the lovely anchor tee, one of my favorites from their outdoor clothing collection www.noandyo.com!!! --- This is NOT a live documentary! There is a time difference between filming and publishing due to the time it takes to edit and to internet not always being awailable on those little remote palm tree islands :). Late afternoon, British time, Bryon Ehrhart’s Reichel/Pugh 63 designed Lucky was the first boat in the Transatlantic Race 2015 to cross the finish line at The Lizard, ending a brutal 8 days 22 hours 5 minutes and 3 seconds at sea on a 2,800-mile eastbound crossing of the North Atlantic, sailed mostly in strong winds. At present Lucky holds the lead in the Transatlantic Race 2015 under IRC handicap, but the title remains under threat from boats yet to finish. Similarly, her impressive course time is likely to be bettered by the maxis which started four days after her.
