This island is really something. Me and Nat had come here a few months ago, but did not visit the interior of the island because there was the "Bruma Seca". The Dry Fog. It's when the air is heavy with Sahara sand and the visibility is none. But this time around I discover the wonder that is Sao Nicolau. With Peixe as my traveling partner, it's pretty awesome. Not only does he know people all over, he's also a tourist like me discovering the island. And what an island it is to discover.

In this episode the boys start fairing this particular section of the hull of Parlay, using gelcoat mixed with polyester resin and cabosil filler. This then has to be sanded with long boards to keep the shape of the hull. But we keep at it, with a smile on our faces, as we look forward to seeing her back in the water!! SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged 2012 Lagoon 450 Catamaran bought in Tortola, BVI at the beginning of 2018. Colin and his friend spent 4 months getting her seaworthy, before setting sail across the Caribbean. Follow our journey as we continue to fix her and eventually circumnavigate the globe! We were super nervous for our first ever podcast with Andy, Mia, and Lee with the "On the Wind" podcast and 59 North Sailing. Andy interviewed us on their boat at the Annapolis Sailboat Show this past weekend which is why we have missed a few video uploads. We talked a lot about our backgrounds, how we got started sailing, and how I went from an $800 abandoned sailboat to our current catamaran, Be sure to comment below with how you liked this episode! There is one spot in Norway infamous for bad weather...heavy winds and seas. Our next step was to get around it. Not being familiar with the area or knowing what to expect, we'd heard from enough people to take caution here that we wanted to listen. Waiting for a day when both winds and seas were low, we woke up at dawn to motor ourselves around this headland. Waiting for us on the other side was the cutest town ever, Alesund. With its colorful Art Nouveau buildings lining the canals, and spectacular overlooks...it was yet another bucket list destination checked off for me.

On this episode of WE | Sail we sail out from Cuba with a 24 hour passage ahead to Mexico. During the crossing we finally have a little better luck with our fishing lines as we cross over the Gulf Stream. We receive a warm welcome to Mexico by a HUGE pod of dolphins who hung around even after we get two fish on the line simultaneously! Once dropping the hook in Mexico we first explored a small island off of Cancun called Isla Mujeres. After a few day scootering around the island we continue our sail south towards Belize and further still from Hurricane Alley! Enjoy and thank you for watching the Adventures of WE! Landing and Retrieving Your Kite From a Boat With Ryan Levinson This video shows various techniques for landing and retrieving your kite from a boat. In this example we are operating from a catamaran (sailboat) but these techniques also work well with dinghies, powerboats, or really anywhere that you don't have a dry place to land your kite. WARNING: This video shows advanced skills. Do not attempt these unless you have the experience needed to understand the risks and you have the skills needed to mitigate them. Failure to do so could result in severe injury or death. In other words, try this at your own risk! https://cabrinhakites.com https://adventuresportsusa.com/ https://www.npsurf.com/ https://www.facebook.com/ryanlevinson https://www.youtube.com/twoafloatsailing Notes: Performing the steps in a slow controlled fashion is key. Rad Rope Retrieval: 1. A floating rope (for example, polypropylene) with a small float and carabiner at one end works best. 2. Approach the rope slowly and under control with the kite high overhead. 3. Grab the rope with your hand closest to the boat and use your other hand to slowly "land" the kite in the water so that it is resting on its wingtip in a stable position (just like the final position during a re-launch). 4. Connect the carabiner to the harness loop or Fireball. Note that for a Fireball system you can use a small carabiner and clip it to the bendy "stem" attached to the ball. 5. Unclip your leash and detach your harness from the bar and lines. Ass First Arrival: 1. Ride to the boat in slow controlled fashion with your kite relatively high. 2. As you approach the boat de-power your kite and control your speed so that you come off a plane and "sink" right at the point where you want to sit down. 3. Then sit your ass down and land/detach the kite just like you do with the Rad Rope Retrieval explained above. Bitchin Bow Booyah: 1. Approach the boat on a slow controlled plane with the kite flying low (about the height of your helper). 2. It's best to aim your kite 5-10 feet downwind of the person catching your kite because the kite will surge forward when you come off your plane. 3. You can use your edge to help control the kite surging forward and to control your speed. 4. When your helper has the kite swim a few strokes toward them to slack the lines so they can control the kite. 5. It is important you use a helper that has enough experience to know the proper way to handle a kite without damaging it (for example, never hold the kite by the canopy and avoid dragging it over sharp or abrasive surfaces).
