A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear. - How do you find all these cool places? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.

This island is the most southern island of New Caledonia and it is something straight out of Jurassic park. Covered in beautiful forrest and of course pine trees. The pine trees are amazing to look at, reaching 100ft high in the sky. Tall and skinny and towering over everything else. We trek around the island, climb the tallest peak, go swimming in the most pristine natural swimming hole that resembles an aquarium and go sailing on a traditional outrigger boat through Baei D'Upi. You are only allowed in this bay by catching a lift on one of these fishing vessels turned into a tourist vessel. Ilse de Pins is an amazing island and a little slice of paradise worth visiting. Island hopping through this paradise from Ilot Uatio to Ilot Kouare. We head out to the fringing reef and try to find a new surf spot. With no luck, we return to our island paradise and go diving with a pod of dolphins. Then hoisting some sails once more, we leave the lagoon and sail 50nm to Ilse de Pins. It turns out the day was a shocker and was rained non stop all day, but we had some amazing encounters along the way. Whales breaching close by and following Nandji along then we were greeted with the biggest pod of dolphins we have ever seen. Thousands and thousands of dolphins all playing, surfing the bow and doing flips and all sorts around the boat. An amazing experience to watch these creatures enjoy our company. There were a couple things wired directly to the battery when we bought her, which is a problem. It was a qucik fix wit a couple of in-line fuses and some heat activated shrink wrap. We look at some of the uses we made of the power tools and then do a review of how some of the tool could be improved by a few changes in design. These are mid-range tools in terms of price and resilience, but a cheaper tool will sink at the same speed as an expensive one if it falls off the boat, so there seems little point in buying the most expensive tools on offer and it is not like we use them every day to make a living. For occasional DIY they are fine. So, the verdict is that they are a great set of tools with a few minor flaws and we expect to find them very useful on the boat. The fact that they are CORDLESS rather than wired to the mains supply makes them (in our opinion) much, much safer to use when afloat. Maintenance with Matthew In this short video Matt shows you how we take apart our Windlass and service it. Our windlass is a very important part of our sailing, as we mostly anchor, and without it would mean needing to haul it up and down by hand. Now and again when the anchor drags up too much weed and mud it jams up the windlass, making it hard to let out the chain when we need to. We tend to service it once every month, but since leaving Scotland we don't normally have too much weed as we mainly anchor in sand. The passage was a bit of a tricky one with strong winds, then light winds and then shifting strong winds. We managed to take it all in stride until the last night. While reefing, a screw that backed itself out of mast track got caught on a track car. And unfortunately, the electric winch will win that battle every time! We head into the marina and have to remove the forestay and furler. We had to replace the forestay in a foreign country which was good fun. We really need to learn a bit more french to succeed over here haha It is all part of the adventure!! Whilst at the marina, we were lucky enough to cross paths with the greatest of all time solo sailor, Jon Sanders. This man is an absolute legend. He is currently on the last legs of completing his 10th circumnavigation at the young age of 78. He sailed solo and unassisted non stop around the world twice. Then he thought, I can beat that and went and sailed around the world non stop three times!!! what a man!! When we asked him how he did it, he shrugged it off! This man has sailed around cape horn 5 times! The only thing he had to complain about was that the floor boards get thrown around went knocked down and you loose your winch handles. What a legend!!
