Our sailing north in the Caribbean has now taken us to SXM, Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. This is the island with two countries in a very small area and it's also the island with a VERY cool airport! With Starry Horizons safe and sound on the hard, we traveled back to the US for the holidays, visiting friends and family. We even ran into a few celebrities! ;) Once we returned to New Zealand, we decided that it was time to explore a country by land. We bought a car in Auckland and after checking in on our girl, set out on a 30 day road trip. This first leg was all about exploring waterfalls and glow worms. The boatyard blocked our sailboat wrong, and that lead to the hull "oil-canning." Our haul out was scheduled at Norsand Boat Yard and we'd be storing Starry Horizons there for a couple of months. To get there, we had to navigate the Hatea River, which was quite shallow, all while remember that our navigational markers were backwards from those in the States! I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out.
