Exploramos el barco fantasma Grand Manan, un ferry encallado en las islas de San Blas de Panamá desde el año 2016 en el arrecife. En compañía de @ElviajedeBohemia que hizo posible que consiguieramos explorarlo al completo. Vienen muchas aventuras de por Panamá de la mano de estos cracks que pondrán rumbo al Pacífico. El lugar perfecto para un velero: fondeo completamente protegido por el arrecife exterior, tesoros escondidos, islas de palmeras y arena blanca, surf y mucho más. Fixing beneteau evasion 32 navigation mess

El sueño se hace realidad, llegamos al paraíso de los veleros, 365 islas de palmeras y arena blanca habitadas por una tribu indígena, los Kunas. Después de 1 semana sin ver tierra atravesando el Caribe avistamos el archipiélago de San Blas en el horizonte, se ven todas sus islas con las palmeras. Nos dirigimos a nuestra primera isla a la que nos acompañan los delfines para darnos la bienvenida, allí haremos la entrada en Panamá y visitaremos el primer poblado Kuna. También hacemos trueque con la barracuda de más de 1 metro que pescamos y jugamos al fútbol con los militares que nos hicieron la entrada en Panamá. Continuamos explorando las islas visitando los cayos Limón, donde nos juntamos con varios amigos navegantes, hacemos snorkel en los arrecifes y comemos buena comida de la mano de nuestro amigo Marc. Finalmente, ponemos rumbo a los Cayos Chichime, donde nos espera un gran amigo Kuna que hace que no veo (Alvaro) 10 años, desde que estuve por última vez navegando en el archipiélago de San Blas con mi familia. Addressing a frustrating crabbing issue with my Garmin chart plotter, I explore potential solutions. Magnetic interference thwarted calibration efforts, leading me to install a new antenna. Hopefully this new antenna will improve my boat navigation. Boat Icon on the Navigation Chart is Facing the Wrong Direction Known issue on the Garmin chart plotters. This problem is called crabbing, and can bie fixed. The icon was still facing in all different directions. Some time correct. Some time a little wrong. Some time terribly wrong. After discussing the issue several times with Garmin employees I bought a Garmin Marine Satellite Compass MSC-10. (By the way, super thanks to the fantastic support from Garmin!) The installation of the MSC-10 was straight forward. I removed an old GPS antenna, and used that location for the new compass, that also gives the position coordinates (so two antennas not needed). Connecting to the NMEA-200 is also easy. Then you need to go into the settings on the plotter for telling it to use the signals from the new unit. Sea trial, and sea trial again, confirming that the MSC-10 solves the crabbing problem on Garmin chart plotter. Is it worth the price? The MSC-10 is an expensive unit. Is it worth the money? That depends on how big the error is in your case. It also depends on how you use the boat and what you can spend. I am very happy I bought it. I use the electronics a lot, and when I am caught in fog and dark on a remote location this might save my life! Electric outboard ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 plus first impressions

Navegamos el Caribe en velero con condiciones de 40 nudos de viento y olas de + 5 metros antes de llegar a nuestro destino final PANAMÁ . Segunda parte de la travesía de las Antillas - Panamá, más de 1.000 millas para recorrer todo el Mar Caribe con unas condiciones muy duras. Después de 4 días desde que partimos desde las Antillas seguimos la aventura con unas condiciones que irán empeorando y nos pondrán a prueba . Presenciamos el mayor espectáculo de delfines visto hasta la fecha, mortales y vuelos de varios metros de altura, una auténtica locura. Al día siguiente vemos por primera vez barcos desde que dejamos las Antillas, en este caso mercantes con rumbo al Canal de Panamá. Entramos una zona con mayor tráfico por ser la entrada y salida del Caribe al Pacífico. Por otro lado, con el teléfono satelital nos descargamos la meteo, la cual nos trae malas noticias, viene viento muy fuerte y las olas irán aumentando, así que con esta información nos preparamos e ideamos estrategias. Las olas comienzan a ser paredes gigantes que surfeamos y alguna que otra nos parte encima. Reducimos vela para ser precavidos, ir estables y controlar la velocidad. La última prueba antes de llegar a nuestro ansioso destino, Nomadas está preparado. Aún yendo rápido conseguimos capturas con las cañas, eso sí más sufridas por la velocidad y olas. El cansancio se va acumulando, dormimos poco por el gran movimiento y los golpes de las olas. Varias de estas olas nos parten en la popa inundando la bañera, y una de ellas entra al camarote de Carlos, ya que se se había dejado el camarote interior abierto. Tras un par de días de lucha y más de una semana de travesía avistamos tierra en el horizonte, es San Blas Panamá, el paraíso nos espera. El sueño que preparamos desde España más de dos años atrás se cumple, tras más de 7.000 millas llegamos a uno de los mejores lugares del mundo para ir en velero, dicho por muchos navegantes que han dado la vuelta al mundo. Para mí (Alvaro), vuelvo a lo que fue mi casa muchos años atrás cuando navegaba con mi familia por el Caribe. Es tiempo de disfrutar y celebrar en el edén de los veleros transmundistas...
