Our Original Plan Is OUT… MASSIVE PIVOT [Ep. 206]

A couple of months ago, we bought a 62-foot former police vessel named 'Salloo' on an eBay auction. Our original plan was to bring the boat from where we bought her, on the Gold Coast, Australia, 400 nautical miles north to Gladstone, Australia, where we planned for the refit to take place! So, our original plan was simple: get Salloo ready for the 400-nautical-mile journey from the Gold Coast to Gladstone, where our sailing catamaran, Emma James, is berthed. And Gladstone is where we planned to do the refit to Salloo. After discovering and overcoming small hiccup after small hiccup during the first stages of getting Salloo ready for her trip north, we hit a problem that brought the plan to a stop..a seized anchor windlass. And without a reliable way to retrieve the heavy anchor and chain in an emergency, we couldn’t safely make the journey north. So… we made a MAJOR PIVOT. Instead of taking Salloo north, we’re going back to Gladstone (via car) to bring Emma James south to the Gold Coast. And that means the major Salloo refit is officially happening right here on the Gold Coast!
