We Found Norway’s Hidden Harbour (After Our Original Plan Failed) | Ep. 94
From a harbour that looked perfect on the chart to an unexpected hidden gem, this episode reminds us why flexibility is one of the most important skills in cruising. After discovering that our planned stop was too shallow and cramped for Polaris, we set off in search of a Plan B. What we found across the fjord completely changed our expectations—a beautifully sheltered harbour hidden behind a maze of skerries, with deep water, excellent protection and surprisingly good facilities. From there we continue north through the spectacular Norwegian coast, explore a peaceful anchorage, carefully assess another shallow harbour entrance, and enjoy a quiet morning sail towards Stø. Along the way we share the decision-making process behind each stop, navigation in unfamiliar waters, and why pilot books can sometimes tell a very different story from the charts. If you enjoy high-latitude sailing, Norwegian cruising, seamanship, passage planning and discovering remote harbours, we hope you’ll enjoy coming along.
