Are We Ever Too Old for Adventure? | Life After 40

Log Entry 504 — When are you too old for this shit? We were in our mid-40s when we decided to leave behind a comfortable lifestyle and move onto a sailboat. And every time we go back and catch up with friends and family, we hear the same thing: "I can't do this. I'm too old for this shit." But it makes us wonder… what exactly do we become too old for? On this passage, our crew is Dr. Nisigandha Ponkshe — a doctor, wife, mother and daughter-in-law & grandmother who decided to learn swimming at the age of 40. But she didn't stop there. Today, she is a long-distance competitive swimmer, scuba diver, biathlete, entrepreneur, ocean sailor and a serious Vedanta practitioner. And much of this happened after her children had grown up and left home. She could have decided that her adventurous years were behind her. Instead, she chose to reinvent herself. Her story made us think about how often we put an age limit on things we haven't even tried. Perhaps growing older isn't about becoming the best version of who we once were. Perhaps it's about collecting more stories along the way, while staying curious about what comes next. And of course, this passage wasn't without its own drama.
