Cyclone Narelle hit the North Queensland coast hard then came across into the Gulf of Capenteria and gathered strength again as it barrelled along, straight for us here in Gove. Wer'd been watching its progress for a few days and decided that we'd seek a safer spot to ride this monster system out. The day before it arrived we motored a few miles to a mangrove creek that I'd found using satellite images. We anchored outside and I scoped the entrance in the dinghy then motored slowly up the creek and round a few corners until we found the perfect spot. We dropped the anchor and then tied a spiderweb of ropes to strong mangroves trees. Here's a short video of how we experienced the storm. We just took Eoti from Daytona Beach to Titusville, navigating the Florida coastline and observing local wildlife. We saw dolphins, raccoons, deer, and so many different deer that it was hilarious. Entering Daytona, we saw a 4-foot shark breach fully out of the water.
