It was 20nm trip to north of Great Keppel Island. 🏝️ Great Keppel Island This is one of my 5 favourite islands to visit in Queensland. We have spent time here, in the past and it’s so close to Rosslyn Bay, Yeppoon. 🐳 BEACHING at Leeke’s Beach / Creek: epic spot out the front of the creek and not many sandflys we noticed in May. We did go do some recon up the creek, as fellow yachties mention it’s a great place to dry out. But we were getting bitten heaps. It wasn’t very windy and very protected where we beaches our boat. 🚶‍♀️ WALKING to Fisherman’s Bay from Leeke’s Beach is 2.5km freak and was just over an hours walk, along an old 4WD track. Mostly gravel, with a 2-3 steep hills to walk. Highly recommend it, so much beauty and amazing views overlooking the bays and mainland. 🔥 SVENDSENDS BEACH - MAKESHIFT YACHT CLUB: Thks place was a treat to have sundowners at, with a firepit, chairs, table, gazebo, camp oven, woks, frying pans etc… it was such an awesome spot to enjoy a cook up and have a chat to fellow yachties. Over the years the yachties have created this meeting place, where you can enjoy a cook up. Extra bonus is, there is a few coconut trees near by, don’t forget to bring some ice & coconut rum 🧉 🛒 PROVISIONS SEMT TO KEPPEL ISLAND - We did an Coles and Woolworths online order and it delivered to us via the ferry. Today I received an exciting package that contained my 2 new sails for my Drascombe Lugger Lulu. Long overdue, having 3 new sails on the boat is going to definitely make her perform a lot better. I can;t wait to get them fitted to the boat. I also add a new elastic retainer to my flagstaff that will stop my loose flag pole from falling out. After 6 months in a Marina doing upgrades and fixing broken parts on our boat we purchased, we can finally take off on our First Passage. We are doing the passage in 3 parts. Ft Pierce to West Palm Beach in this FIrst one. We are working our way towards the Florida Keys. This was a great first passage for us other than not enough wind to sail. We did get a great show by dolphins, and had some rain squalls to deal with. But now that we are out on the water we will be exploring from here on out. This week we continue working on the wooden hardware to be rebedded to the deck. After repairing the hardwood hatch frame last week, we continue that work with the teak companionway hatch slide rail. It gets an epoxy repair. The fiberglass work continues around on the deck around the butterfly hatch to prepare and finish it for receiving the companionway sliding door. We show how to identify and correct a water circulation problem on the air conditioner unit on board. We want to avoid the dreaded HPF error. When you get an HPF error in the summer (Running the A/C) then it is likely a water circulation problem when you get an HPF error in the winter (Running the reverse cycle heat) it is probably an air flow problem. We show how to correct what just turned out to be an airlock in our system from having had the boat hauled out and getting air caught in the line, and the pump losing it's prime. And Lastly, we go and see another great show the local community theatre called "Let's be Frank" which was a Frank Sinatra performance from a great actor/singer that we have seen in a few other local performances.
