Renee and Lynette have sailed over 30,000 nautical miles aboard their 27 foot steel sailboat "Tekaihau" since pushing off from New Zealand. They recently pulled into Dutch Sint Maarten in the Caribbean, sold Tekaihau, and bought a much larger sailboat, a 1968 Moody Halberdier 36. They renamed her "Bubbly" and are now refitting her to continue on their circumnavigation back to New Zealand. We visited Renee and Lynette on sailing vessel Bubbly on the hard in Dutch Sint Maarten in February 2012. Our trip to San Francisco included a stop to look at a 1994 Nautor Swan 46. The Swan 46 MKII (1989-1997) and 48 (1995-2002) were both German Frers designs, and featured dual aft cockpits separated by a traveler. Two separate companionways made them a unique product on the market, and they are both solid bluewater boats with a reputation for being bulletproof in foul weather and big seas. This one was in need of some love, but was also the least expensive Swan 46 on the market (in the US) at present. With a little TLC, she could be a find.

Hello fellow dreamers! I can't believe we've made it this far! After enjoying nearly a month in Fiji, we made a tough decision to skip New Zealand and head west, straight to Australia, to sell our boat. Although we'd had big plans for NZ we were concerned about the difficult seas on the passage from Fiji to NZ; and we were also told that the market for boat sales is larger in Oz than in NZ. I broke this sail down into two episodes since it was pretty lengthy. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. In een paar mooie lange dagtochten zeil ik met Jord veel op de gennaker langs de Bretonse kust naar Les Sables d'Olonne. Wederom een zeilers hotspot. We krijgen een plaatsje aan de Vendee Globe steiger. Wat een feest. Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen.
