I cannot even begin to tell you how many times we are asked what it's like to sail with such big dogs, or more often than not, so many of them. For us, it's a lifestyle we adjusted to and thoroughly enjoy. Yes, there are compromises. Yes, we can't leave them for hours on end and go explore but, for us, they make our life that little bit happier, that little bit more exciting and that little bit more fun. In this exciting episode of our sailing adventure series, we delve into the world of sailing with dogs! Join us as we answer all your burning questions about what it's like to have furry companions on board, where we sail with them, how we make it work, and why we believe it's the ultimate way to explore the open seas. Our Q&A segment addresses common concerns and provides valuable insights for anyone considering embarking on a sailing journey with their four-legged friends. So grab a cup of tea, sit back, and join us as we share our experiences, challenges, and joys of sailing with our beloved dogs. Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and leave your comments below – we'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences too! Subscribe to our channel for more exciting episodes of our sailing adventures, and stay tuned for the next episode where we explore the breathtaking beauty of remote islands. Fair winds and happy sailing! Cheers & till next time! Who are we? We are a family of three with three dogs, sailing the coasts of Scotland, exploring one island at a time – for now! There is no set route or plan. We will go where the wind and life take us. We have two golden retrievers and a bernese mountain dog – Hachi, Luna and Meems who sail with us. We sail on a 1995 Gib’Sea 472 who we are in the process of refitting, making our own and preparing for a big adventure. Connect with us! From flat calm to full-on. It seems to be the story of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli’s winter training camp in Cagliari and today was no different. Dawn broke and the Sella del Diavolo looked inviting, calm, serene even with spring sunshine breaking over the horizon but it was fool’s gold and pretty soon it was snorting at 14-17 knots with an angry sea that looked set to stay all afternoon. On the flat starboard foil things looked harder, pitch was hit and miss, but a case could equally be made that on port tack they were punching into the waves. Vittorio Bissaro, one of the key Flight Controllers for the programme gave a superb insight saying: “Well let's say that waves give us some feedback in terms of how the two foils behave, so probably I would say that we have a better feeling with one foil compared to the other in waves but I will not say which one of course.” Yes of course Vito, but the recon video offers a few hints. Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024

Ben Ainslie was back in Palma on Saturday for INEOS Britannia’s first proper test sail of their much-modified and upgraded LEQ12 prototype, codenamed ‘T6’, and what a session it was. The British were keen to get foiling on the starboard W-foil that has divided opinion in the America’s Cup community but on first showing, it looked rapid and stable in a straight-line whilst tacks appeared to be razor sharp upwind. This is a design direction they pursued in AC36 with wings that didn’t end up making the raceboat but with some tweaks to the rule that have opened up this direction, this highly technical team could well be on to something very interesting. Section 41. In last weeks video we actually left the dock. Was I nervous, yes a little bit because I wasn't sure how well everything would work. The reality is that it was cautious excitement. It was great to drive the boat, sail her and just enjoy feeling her on the open water. 3 years. 3 years. I can't believe it was that long :) In this weeks episode we get her hauled out and talk about the yard we chose to do the work. We are pleased with the work so far and certainly expect to remain that way. We have used this company before. Mayers Yacht Service. http://mayeryacht.com. The best thing is that you will likely see a combination of work that we are doing and that the yard is doing as we are allowed to do some of our own work as well. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them. Subscribe !! https://www.youtube.com/c/svdreamchas... Become a patron, https://www.patreon.com/elcanoworldchallenge If you want more information on the Odisea 48, 55 or 62 then send an email to peter@elcanoworldchallenge.org Maths and physics does not lie good people so this is a very easy and objective way of evaluating your future catamaran purchase. To a large extent I believe to win in the sailing ratios alone is a hollow victory since you should also look at the catamaran's construction and the materials that are used. A sportstar catamaran that will always win the Friday afternoon trophy and get the bottle of red wine will likely not be the most durable cruiser able to take alot of punishment. And that is why I like aluminium, the best boat building material bar none. Light strong and durable it can certainly take the punishment meted out to it. The Odisea 62 from Odisea Catamarans has just been designed and will soon be built in Vietnam. It is the bigger brother of the Odisea 48 but has much more style, volume and comfort than it's younger brother. It is similar to the Balance 620 in that it is a luxury boat that can take the punishment of a world cruise in comfort. BUT it is lighter and more durable being made of aluminium and because of this the Odisea 62 beats the Balance 620 in all the sailing ratios, namely Sail Area to Displacement, Displacement to Waterline length and Ksp....and of course it beats it in price by a whopping margin. Write me an email to peter@elcanoworldchallenge.org and I can give you more information. Ep. 21. This was a tough passage as the trade winds dropped out and a cold front moved over us b ut we made it to Niue without any issues. Niue is a beautiful clean Island with very friendly locals who always help. You will see a pod of Humpback Whales swim within a few feet of Annecam, the dinghy lift crane at the dock and a bit of a look at this nice quiet town.
