Stephen & Estelle Cockcroft of Catamaran Guru set to cross near Channel Cay in the Bahamas and encountered not only a bit of seasick-y waters, but also had to turn back due to a failed shackle on the mainsail that came crashing down. Just another day in the life of a sailor! Check out all their tips on sailing and living aboard at https://catamaranguru.com/lifestyle/cruising-resources.

This 40-foot cruiser, with a new hull design by Marc Lombard, offers unrivalled deck volume and interior space, an there are no concessions to performance. _______________________________________________________________ BENETEAU est concepteur et constructeur de bateaux depuis 1884. We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the works needed were a lot more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. Althea has had her sugar scoops extended by 2 feet to a total of 47 feet to enhance her performance in 2023. The classic Leopard 45, also known as the Moorings 4500, was designed by Morrelli and Melvin and built by Robertson & Caine in South Africa. When it was introduced in 1997, the Leopard 45 was selected by Cruising World Magazine as “Charter Boat of the Year” and quickly built an outstanding reputation in the Moorings and Sunsail charter fleets. These catamarans set the standard for comfort, ease of sailing and performance when they were introduced. The layout allows easy movement about the boat from the spacious aft deck, a step down to the swimming platform, or relaxing on the foredeck trampoline. The innovative deck layout brings a host of features to make life and sailing simplicity itself. From the aft deck arch that puts the mainsail sheeting system out of harm's way, to the ingenious anchoring system, sailing the Leopard 45 is a breeze. The Leopard 45 has robust shaft drives and skeg protected rudders making it well suited to cruising in remote areas. After an awkward beginning to the regatta yesterday, the RC44 World Championship Marina de Sotogrande fleet racing got underway, providing a reminder to helmsmen, tacticians and crew on all 11 yachts that this Andalusian venue lies just 25km from Gibraltar and the open Atlantic beyond. Racing today was held in stiff 20+ knot winds that topped out at 27 knots, creating boat speeds of 20+ knots, plus a worthy test for crews. After race one, the fleet was ordered back to Sotogrande Marina when a giant grey cloud crossed the course, obscured the rock of Gibraltar, while emptying its contents upon the crews. The 2016 RC44 World Championship Marina de Sotogrande is the second event of the 2016 Championship Tour, which pitts the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts.
