Anchoring at the wharf

As we travel around the world we always love finding abandoned places to urban explore. After sailing into Trinidad & Tobago, we cleared into the country then motored our live aboard catamaran to the uninhabited island of Chacachacare. One of Trinidad's western islands, it's a great anchorage for visiting yachts. It's also a formed leper colony. Despite being to Trinidad before we'd never explored the abandoned building including the convent and church, which were used by the nuns who cared for the lepers that lived here. This was the perfect time to go see a place some call haunted, the ruins of which are slowly being overtaken by the jungle. The summer doldrums continued. Toni and I have been making many changes to “Moments in Time” and now we wanted to relax. Toni and I simply committed to a couple days to go out. We packed some food and departed Solomons in the spitting rain and dying winds. We managed to get the sails up and sailed for a little while before enabling the iron gennys and motor sailing to St. John’s Creek off of St. Leonard Creek. We dropped the hook and relaxed, watching the pop-up thunderstorms and jumping whenever lightning flashed too close. However, it cooled the evening temperatures. This is the first trip that we took with the “Miss Annemarie”, our carbon fiber dinghy. We did some sightseeing, visited a deserted beach, and went out to dinner. Two nights was not long enough but prior commitments forced our return to Solomons. It was a short but great trip. Having a dinghy opens many more options while anchored. Often when I am reading books in the Mariner's library I am also hearing the story for the first time myself-  this book however, is different. 22. Juli 2025: wir segeln von Lipsi Hafen nach Arki. Wir entscheiden uns für eine türkise Bucht in Makronisi South. Wir konnten direkt Segel setzten und segelten Amwind fast bis in die Bucht. 10,9 sm Die Bucht ist ein Traum, daher bleiben wir eine weitere Nacht und fuhren mit dem Dinghi auch mal zu der Sandbank in der Tiganakia Bucht. 24. Juli 2025: Wir legen um 8:23 Uhr ab und können herrlich nach Agathonisi5 segeln. Mal mit 6 kn Amwind mal mit 2 kn Speed freuen wir uns über den schönen Tag. Kurz vor der Einfahrt böte es noch mal auf 18 kn. Wir haben das Glück in der Mitte vor dem Strand den Anker zu werfen. Es war ein wunderbarer Sandgrund mit türkisenem Wasser. Es wird mit den anderen Ankerern noch mal hektisch aber wir gehen gemütlich zu Georgs Taverne. Zu dem leckeren 45-Euro-Fisch gab es Mangold und Pommes. Nicht sehr raffiniert. Naja, wir können uns dem überschwänglichen Lob nicht anschließen. Die Nacht war windig und wir schwojeten einmal im Kreis. Obwohl der Meltemi begann, wollten wir hier nicht weitere Tage verbringen und so legten wir - wohl als einzige - ab und motorten nach Sami. Die Wellen waren riesig und der Wind hatte auch mal 30kn Böen. 12,8 sm Viel Spaß beim Ansehen. Die Videos sind für Familie, Freunde und Interessierte.
