We’re back in Far North Queensland, this time at Cairns Boat Yard, and facing one of our toughest challenges yet — hauling out without an engine. With only a rope and a lot of determination, Josh has to maneuver our sailboat from its mooring to the trailer, fighting wind, current, and a tight timeline. It takes several nerve-wracking tries to get her lined up perfectly. What happens next might surprise you — will we make it onto the trailer safely, or end up in a much bigger mess? In Marstrand wurden wir am Morgen von strahlendem Sonnenschein geweckt und ließen den Tag erstmal langsam angehen. Gegen Mittag sollte dann etwas Wind aufkommen und so brachen wir dann auf. Wir fuhren nach Westen durch den gleichen engen Kanal wie am Vortag und setzten dann auf dem offenen Wasser die Segel. Zwischen den Schären ließ der Wind noch etwas zu wünschen übrig, aber als wir aus der Landabdeckung kamen und vor den Schären durchs Kattegat segelten, ging die Post ab! Nous quittons enfin le Panama pour nous diriger vers le magnifique archipel de San Andres, appartenant à la Colombie, mais niché tout près du Nicaragua ! Dès le départ, la chance est avec nous et nous capturons une belle prise : un superbe thon qui augure une belle traversée. Naviguant entre les majestueux cargos du canal de Panama, l’excitation grandit à chaque instant. Et au crépuscule, notre patience est récompensée : le vent tant attendu nous accueille, doux et gracieux, poussant notre catamaran vers notre destination. Bien que notre traversée de 220 milles nautiques ait pris plus de temps que prévu, nous n’aurions pas pu rêver de meilleures conditions. Le vent parfait, la mer calme, une véritable ode à la voile ! Nous avons eu recours à notre radar pour la première fois afin d’éviter quelques cellules orageuses, mais ce qui rend cette traversée vraiment spéciale, c’est l’accueil chaleureux des dauphins qui nous ont accompagnés jusqu’à San Andres. Episode 275 After 3 grueling weeks on the hard applying our own DIY copper coating, our catamaran is finally back where she belongs! The relief is amazing, but boat life always keeps us on our toes. We head round to the Duck Ponds in Townsville to test our brand-new Muir Storm 1250 windlass, only to realize our wiring isn't thick enough. After a quick shopping trip and a major rewiring job, it’s working flawlessly! We also rebuild our watermaker with new parts and successfully produce fresh water.
