While Wisdom is being repainted, Herby and Maddie explore the island of Terciera, Azores! They venture off the beaten path to find a side of the Azores rarely seen (like a geothermal power plant). The wood finally arrives at the boat so that they can begin the galley refit! The plan is to build sepele mahogany butcher block counter tops. Herby and Maddie also take a walk into town (Praia Victoria) when they take a break from editing videos. Herby takes care of the rot occurring in the closet and under the floors. The rotten wood is removed and repaired in a way that should hold up for many years to come. He uses closed cell foam coring and fiberglass to repair the lost wood. One thing I secretly love is a good country music hoedown. I used to think the Calgary Stampede was the best of the best when it came to Country. I was wrong. This week I witnessed the best. A Country Hoedown, an awesome group of boaters, AND our own island. This is that party. I get some top quality line dancing instruction and rip up the dancefloor while Sayo enjoys the local distilled beverages and we get our first taste of pre-teen girl drama. The core of "Family Circus" is Chris (Dad / Captain), Sayo (Mom / Admiral), Aya (First Officer / Deckhand) and Miya (Baby / Stainless Polisher). After many years in business in Vancouver we were tired of life inside the box and wanted to make a change, we just weren't exactly sure what would be next. In July of 2016, when Sayo was six months pregnant, we decided (somewhat at the last minute) to fly to New Caledonia for one last holiday before the baby was born. On this trip we decided to buy "Family Circus", planned to sail her to New Zealand and started an adventure that has changed our lives. We had to fix our sliding door latch because it wouldn't lock. The latch had broke in half and we didn't won't to buy a new sliding door latch. So out with the JB Weld. We first removed the sliding door handle and the lock mechanics fell out. we then mix up our JB Weld two part system of liquid metal and harder.
