🌍 Épisode 50 On quitte le paradis… direction une île mythique ⛵🌴 Après la belle soirée partagée aux Tobago Cays, là où nous nous sommes quittés à la fin de l’épisode précédent, il est temps pour nous de lever l’ancre et de reprendre la mer. Cap sur Mustique pour une petite navigation tranquille, sous de bonnes conditions, jusqu’à notre arrivée sur cette île aussi réputée que mystérieuse. Une fois sur place, nous prenons une bouée d’amarrage, avant de partir à la découverte de ce nouveau coin des Grenadines. Nouvelle île, nouvelles rencontres et nouvelles aventures : nous partons explorer Mustique entre amis, accompagnés de notre bateau copain Ilo. L’occasion parfaite pour s’éloigner un peu du mouillage et découvrir l’île autrement. Au programme : une randonnée jusqu’au Lagon Bleu, entre paysages magnifiques, chaleur tropicale… et un moment plutôt drôle où je me prends (un peu trop) pour un ami adepte de trail 😅 Un instant de vie simple, spontané, comme on les aime en voyage. IRC One delivered one of the closest corrected-time battles of the 2026 RORC Caribbean 600. After nearly three days of relentless trade wind racing, the outcome hinged until the final gruelling beat to Antigua from Redonda. Bruce Chafee’s RP42 Rikki (USA) crossed the line in an elapsed time of 2 days 21 hours 51 minutes 30 seconds, and her corrected time under IRC sealed victory. Xavier Bellouard’s Lift 45 Maxitude (FRA) took line honours for the class, but corrected out to second place, just 9 minutes 32 seconds short after 600 demanding miles. Third place went to Woody Cullen’s Swan 58 WaveWalker (USA), completing the race in 3 days 00 hours 30 minutes 11 seconds elapsed. In classic Caribbean 600 fashion, IRC One was decided by precision, not just pace, setting the stage for reflections from the winning team on Rikki and their closest challengers aboard Maxitude. For my birthday treat this year I sailed our Chat 18 catamaran for the first time since before Christmas. A clean bottom and new antifouling did wonders for both speed and manouverability! I only sailed for a couple of hours, in part because the weather was worsening, but mainly because the tide was dropping and I needed to get back onto our beach mooring. It was a great sail, just touching 8 knots at times. In fact the whole area shown in this video dries out at low tide - it's called "West Mud" for a reason!
