Eine lange Auszeit! Alles einmal anders machen! Aus dem Alltag entfliehen! Was passiert eigentlich wenn man wirklich einmal diese Ratschläge befolgt, die einen oft seit Jahren in Zeitschriften und Büchern verfolgen? Fühlt man sich dann wirklich so frei, wie dort ja so oft beschrieben? Ist es diese ständig nagende Sehnsucht nach mehr Zeit wirklich wert, einmal aus allem auszusteigen und sein Leben und seinen Partner für einige Monate zu verlassen? Claus Aktoprak machte sich alleine mit seinem günstig gekauften und selbst reparierten Segelboot LA MER auf eine sechsmonatige Reise um auf diese Frage endlich eine Antwort zu finden. Bewusst wählte er die naheliegende Ostsee, um sich nicht durch Rekordversuche von seiner Suche nach mehr Zeit ablenken zu lassen. Dabei war stets die Kamera an Bord mit dabei, um alle Entwicklungen zum Zeitmillionär zu dokumentieren. Der Film zeigt in sehr persönlicher und besonderer Weise die emotionalen Entwicklungen während so einer Reise. Traum und Aufbruch, zielloses Treibenlassen, das Genießen der neugewonnenen Freiheit ohne Uhr, aber auch Heimweh und Einsamkeit werden zum Thema. Und am Ende des Films bleibt man mit dieser wunderbaren Reiselust zurück, und nimmt sich vor nun endlich auch einmal mit seinen Träumen ernst zu machen. Zum einen tragen dazu natürlich die sehr eindrucksvollen Bilder des Segelns in der skandinavischen Schärenlandschaft bei. Aber der Musiker Aktoprak ging noch einen Schritt weiter und hat die viele Zeit an Bord sehr kreativ genutzt um seine Emotionen während der Reise auch musikalisch festzuhalten. Nach der Reise sehr aufwendig mit über 30 Musikern aus verschiedenen Ländern produziert, verbinden sich die Bilder und die Musik zu einem wahrhaft sehnsuchtsmachenden Werk und man möchte in einigen Momenten nicht lieber tun, als an Bord von LA MER gehen um ebenfalls für ein paar Monate als Zeitmillionär zu leben.

The Tryst trimaran is a variation on the 2 sheet Duo dinghy. Both outriggers are made from one sheet of plywood and bolt to extended wing/beams This was the first time I sailed the Tryst and I was using a new gooseneck which I had fitted too low. The last still shot shows the whole boat, including spars and sail, in the back of our pickup truck which has a 6ft long bed. You can build your own Tryst from plans by Woods Designs. The sixth episode of my Adventure to learn to ride a foil board! A hydrofoil kiteboard video series, starting from no experience on foil boards at all, up to hopefully gybing and tacking along!! Last episode I was trying to actually get lifted from the water on the foil for the first time. This episode I am trying to gain more speed, extend my rides, and generally gain more confidence and have more fun riding! This is just a few minutes of the 1st leg of the OPCYC "Round the Lights Race" that took place Oct 14th, 2017. The Skipper and crew of the S/V Excelsior chose to make the initial turn to port on an East by Northeast course, set on a close reach into 2' to 3' seas, towards the Thimble Shoals Lighthouse. I subtitled this, "The Wrong Way Round..." as choosing the initial starboard run to the Middle Grounds Light turned out to be the faster course this season.... "Weather is what you get, Sailing is what you DO with it." A wonderful sail was had by all who took part. Fair winds and following seas to all.

Now it’s time to start getting Northern Reach, our 1983 Whitby 42, ready for our winter life aboard on at Port Credit Harbour Marina on Lake Ontario. High winds makes us question our choice to sell everything and move aboard. But thé to-do list awaits, so after the storm we get to it! We remove the Espar D5 Diesel furnace and send it in for servicing. While moving to our winter slip, BOAT FAIL!, Talia almost hits a another boat, well, 2 boats actually. We've still got a long way to go maneuvering this beast in tight quarters. We remove our vintage, err, discontinued, 37 year old marine head in preparation for our luxurious Jabsco Quiet Flush electric head along with trying to tackle an ambitious TO DO list! Yacht maintenance in frigid locations. The adventure continues.
