The weather is calm so we decide to move Nutshell off her first mooring and on to a sturdier, more permanent one, so that we can carry out the boat jobs in relative safety. Magnus builds a mock up for our roof top tent for our land based travel within Australia. It’s something that he has been working on for quite some time and now it is going to come to life! Let the big boat job begin! The gearbox finally comes out after the removal of many, many hoses all attached with multinational fittings. In 2011 Brad, Krista and Cole traveled for 3 weeks in New Zealand after spending 4 weeks in Australia. Then it was onto the Cook Islands for 2 weeks. This video is some of our Video from our New Zealand tour. The Weather was far less than perfect but we had a wonderful time despite it. We started on the South Island and then Ferried to the North Island. The roads were never straight and it was challenging at times with one lane bridges and narrow passages. This boat originally had a shower and drain sump of some kind installed, but the previous owners removed it. I suppose their sense of smell was not particularly acute. In this episode we dry Esperance out on a wall at Torpoint Yacht Haven in Plymouth so we can clean the hull, change the anodes, check the rudder, prop and p-bracket and add a new coat of anti-foul ahead of our channel crossing. We hadn't planned on doing this but everything was aligned, weather, tides, location and we found a couple of pairs of hands to help. Kelly took the kids out of the way and Hugh got to work. It took a lot of planning in a short amount of time but we got there. We saved a fortune doing it this way. We know other boat owners would like to do the same but some are nervous about doing it.
