Swimming nude - Sailing Thailand We are sailing our cruising catamaran back down the west coast of Thailand, visiting several of the remote, off shore, islands and dive spots along the Andaman Coast. It gives us a chance to dust off our scuba diving gear and for our sailing teens to practice their free diving, as we drop into the clear blue depths, to rub shoulders with hundreds of brightly coloured tropical and pelagic fish. Thank you for helping keep us afloat and supporting the creative process. It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. The plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #sailing #diving #205 #TheCruisingKiwis
👇 IN QUESTO VIDEO SCOPRIRETE: 👇 🚗 On the road verso Bundaberg: l'Australia è immensa (e piena di noci di Macadamia). After being considered the pre race favourite by many for the overall handicap win on IRC - and having made their fastest run ever from Sydney to Tasman Island - the Ichi Ban team hit Storm Bay where it all went pear-shaped. The Bow Caddy Team spoke to Matt Allen, owner and skipper after the race.
With just one leg of the Volvo Ocean Race remaining, three skippers can still take the win – but who will take the ultimate glory? With some help from Thad and Satchel we decide on exactly where the openings for the fore hatch, house, and cockpit should go. With no experience sailing, it was great to have two very different and accomplished sailors give their input on how best to lay out the deck plan. A bunch of deck beams get bolted into place and some possible ideas for a tender and lifeboat are discussed. Many thanks for following and helping to keep this journey and the weekly videos coming! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interesting in supporting/helping here are a few ways: Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg Recurring support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Original Soundtrack available at benfundis.bandcamp.com FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com
The SHARKI 39 (Amel), built in 1988, is a remarkable and beautifully maintained sailboat currently based in Greece. The boat boasts a sophisticated and practical interior design that’s designed to maximize comfort and utility for both short and long journeys. The interior is thoughtfully planned and crafted with an emphasis on functionality and comfort, making it a perfect home on the water. The SHARKI 39 features a dependable Perkins Prima 50 engine with a recorded 1932.19 running hours and a newly replaced timing belt. The stainless steel shaft line, HURT gearbox, and a new propeller affirm the high maintenance standard of this vessel. The vessel comes with a variety of sails, including a genoa on a furler measuring 44M”, a mainsail on a furler measuring 22M”, a manual mizzen of 10M”, and a staysail. All sails are meticulously checked and cleaned each year to ensure optimal performance. Anchoring equipment includes a CQR anchor, two flat anchors, and an 80m chain, all managed by a Lofrans windlass. Additionally, it features a bow thruster for increased maneuverability. For safety and auxiliary transportation, the sailboat is equipped with a Hercules 3-person dinghy and a life raft. Two Victron Energy solar panels of 115W-12V and one flexible 100W panel ensure sufficient power generation onboard. For navigation, the SHARKI 39 is kitted with a suite of advanced instruments, including a HECTA speedometer and anemometer, a HECTA depth sounder, FURUNO radar, GARMIN GPS, a FURUNO navigation pilot, and FURUNO autopilot. An additional AUTOHELM 3000 autopilot provides redundancy, while a NAUDET barometer and a RADIO OCEAN AIS transmitter receiver aid in communication and weather tracking. Onboard comfort features include a new 20L hot water balloon boiler, diesel heating, an ENO stove, and blackout blinds combined with a mosquito net for the perfect sleep environment. The sailboat also boasts a water filter and an inspection hatch to a fuel tank with a capacity of 340L. A substantial water tank with a 750L capacity supports longer journeys. For controlling the vessel, you have the choice between wheel steering and a tiller. A winter cover and a dedicated cabin for navigating in adverse weather conditions round out the thoughtful features of this well-equipped SHARKI 39 sailboat.
