After our passage through The Corinth Canal and our traumatic overnight in Kiato, we head North across the Gulf to the small town of Galixidi. Mooring on the town quay with no cost is a bonus at this time of year, with the port Police almost horizontal in their attitude towards visiting yachts. Next up is the small island of Trizonia, lying West of Galixidi and offering sheltered mooring in the 30 knots that always seems to be trying to slow our progress. With rotting and sunken boats, Trizonia sounds dodgy, but actually turns out to be a little gem. Friendly islanders, open tavernas and a ferry service to the mainland make this a must stop on your way through the Gulf. An overnight stay and it’s an early start heading for Messolonghi, but first we have to pass under the famous Rion Bridge! Paulo asked about how water drains away from the base of the mast. While I knew that these Garcia Exploration boats have deck-stepped masts, I didn’t know exactly how rain water (or sea water? Yikes!) gets away from the recess at the base of the mast. Good subject for a video. 🙂 I’ll add that the chain locker has a dedicated bilge pump. Any water that drips off the chain can be pumped out via an above-waterline through-hull near the top of the centreboard box. Surprise, surprise - it was windy. My iPhone’s crackling microphone annoys me as much as anyone, so I’ve done a voiceover, with music! Carolyn says that’s a step too far and she might be right. It takes longer and it breaches our ‘No editing - Just sailing’ rule! 🤔

Ho mostrato i mille volti di Djerba, le case che i trogloditi hanno costruito centinaia di anni fa sotto terra, la splendida medina e il palmeto di Tozeur, l'oasi di montagna e le cascate di Chebika, i miraggi dello Chott el Jerid, il grande lago salato. E poi li ho fatti divertire con i quad tra le dune di Ksar Ghelane. Ma soprattutto spero si siano innamorati dei sorrisi e dell'ospitalità dei tunisini del sud
