In this episode, we take time to decompress and really enjoy Trinidad. After seeking safe harbor from Hurricane Beryl, we were so thankful to Trinidad's diplomacy and the extraordinary kindness of literally every person we met there. We had rigging work completed the first week, visited some local beaches, enjoyed the Waterpark twice, and loved seeing howler and capuchin monkeys in the bamboo forests in Chaguramas. The quality of this video is not great because of space issues in my phone. I'm still learning to make videos and plan to use a different device and software from now on. After an overnight in Union, we make our final push and arrive to Grenada...three days before Hurricane Beryl turns straight at us! In a twist of fate, the relative safety we sought out of the hurricane zone becomes the target of a Category 5 Hurricane Beryl, a record-breaking June Hurricane. After spending some fun time exploring Grenada, we sail to Trinidad with over 200 other boats during "Beryl Regatta". Trinidad is incredible and we fall in love with the island and the welcoming people. In this video we enjoy having our teen passengers finally aboard after travel hiccups, and we sail from Nevis to Guadeloupe, with an overnight atop in Montserrat. This is the first video I ever made about our sailing adventures. Although we had been on boats for years, we finally got to move onto our own boat for the summer 2024. We were missing one family member who was living in Germany as an exchange student, but he will later meet up with us down island. This episode we sail from the U.S. Virgin Islands to Saint Martin, enjoying our first overnight sail and marveling at the stars along the way.
