This is the first day of the Bomb cyclone off the coast of California. This boat hasn’t been in this kind of weather in many many years. Purchased on the Sacramento Delta, brought out of retirement to brave the seas North of Cape Mendocino. She’s holding steady not leaking much water. Showing her strength threw the storm safely tied to the dock along with all the other vessels.

I'm celebrating National Hispanic Heritage month with Coquito!! Coquito is a Puerto Rican coconut rum cocktail made in batches. It is often compared to egg nog but let me tell you what it is really like: coquito is like smooth snickerdoodle silk with a kick! It is creamy, coconut-y, vanilla-y, cinnamon-y, rum-y, pure delight. I promise you will love it. There are simpler recipes, but this is how I made it (worth it!): Ingredients 12 oz (1 can) evaporated milk 2 egg yokes 14 oz (1 can) coconut milk 14 oz (1 can or pouch) sweetened condensed milk 1/2 cup white rum (optional) 1/2 cup water 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp cinnamon ground nutmeg or cinnamon sticks for garnish Combine evaporated milk and eggs in a double boiler over simmering water. Whisk constantly until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, or when it reaches 160 degrees F (71 degrees C). Transfer mixture to a blender. Add coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, water, vanilla, and cinnamon and blend until combined. (Stop here if you don't want to add the rum.) Add rum and blend more. It's best to chill overnight. Top with ground nutmeg or cinnamon stick. Cheers!

Everybody is using 3D printers but I like functional 3D pen projects. So I took my tiny qev cannon (cal 4'5mm) and made a matching frame to make a saloon / parlor airgun. Charging takes some time, but just like any muzzleloader. Tiny plastic beads fly at 148m/s, peaking 0'69J Steel bbs are possible thanks to a tiny magnet inside. The frame is 3D drawn PLA plus toothpicks, skewers and some rubber bands. Trigger is even less than double action :) Eye protection is mandatory! (next plan is a working model passenger airbag!!)
