Recently, while working with dogs at Apollo Rescue in Justin, TX, I noticed a common issue with the standard slip leads used by many rescues. These generic slip leads often feature a leather adjuster that wears out over time, making it difficult to keep the lead in the correct position-just below the dog's jawbone, with enough space to slip a fingertip between the lead and the dog. When the adjuster fails, the lead becomes loose and spins around. As a result, when a dog pulls and the handler applies tension, the dog instinctively pulls harder, increasing pressure on its airway. This can cause discomfort or even injury. However, when a slip lead is positioned correctly-resting on the neck muscles-it allows for proper corrections that help the dog refocus on the handler. In this video, I demonstrate how to retrofit any slip lead using a 1/4-inch paracord, transforming it into a safer and more effective handling tool.
Molly (client) and Boston Terrier Olive are neighbors and usually see each other through a fence. There Mom's introduced them on lead and when Molly got too pushy and Olive who is a little dog selective. Here I show how I do it. Olive is tethered so that only one person is involved. We ease into it and refocus in response to any verbalization or tension on the leash to control any fixation Dogs don't have to be beasties with others dogs but they can't be reactive. Good job pretty girls.
Two year old Great Pyrenees named Puppy. Mom contacted me because she could not safely walk him. Told her to bring him out to our event at OTB last night. When she got there he was dragging her all over on flat collar and six foot lead she was holding with two hands. This is what happened. #looseleadrevolution #dfwdogtrainer #focusedbaseddogtraining #mcsdogtraining #fortworthtx #grapevinetexas #Colleyville #oldtexasbrewingcompany
Free in-homd evaluation for Lucky a 3 yo Golden Retriever. Mom was unable to walk him because of pulling. He also ran out the dog. This is what we are able to do with any dog in minutes, not talk (except tons of praise) no treats, no prong or collars. we have done this with over 3500 dogs. After thisI did the same thing with Lucy's 4 yo old sister Lucy a GSD. What we do is a gift of the Holy Spirit and God is good. Mom was in tears, a common response. Don' believe what you read about dog training on the internet. We will travel anywhere in the US to work with dogs. Call us today 717-693-2085. We train canines, not breeds.
Went to an evaluation today with Max a 9 mo GSD. he was in the back yard and Dad had to chase him around to put the lead on. Then I took him, walking on a loose lead on a finger tip then 5 minutes of working on the Focus Drill. This is what we do with every dog we work with. This is the foundation of everything that follows. No commands, no treats, no prong collars, no e collars, no harnesses. Just love & relationship. Any dog, any size, any breed, any breed, any background, any size. It is a gift of the holy spirit and we want to share it with you. Serving Dallas/Fort Worth but we will travel anywhere in the country. This was only 11 minutes. Imagine what we can show you how to do in an hour.

Effective use of the crate
Doing something despite difficulty or delay achieving access.
Its a very common issue, older dog that did not grow up exposed to kids is reactive to them. Use eye contact, movement, and touch, this is how you condition them to focus on you instead of doing what makes sense to them.
The thought of getting a servive dog can be overwhelming. Here I share my thoughts based on not only being a handler but as a trainer.
