In this episode we sail through some shallow water on our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran to get to Sampson Cay, Staniel Cay and Great Guana Cay in the Exuma island chain of the Bahamas. Adrienne jumps ship to tow the dinghy by hand over a sand bar, we get up close and personal with the wildlife at Thunderball Grotto, do major laundry in a very exotic laundry mat, and weather a storm in Black Point Settlement on Great Guana Cay. The release of the mental pressure built up over the last week or so - especially knowing how bad the forecast has been – really was palpable today. Those sailors who had start-day guests – sponsors and partners – to entertain did so with big smiles and no obvious stress. Others, who could, headed home to spend time with family and friends, especially catching up with quality deep sleep.

Most of the anchorages we've dropped our hook in the Marquesas have been challenging. Very deep, rocky bottom and crowded. But we have finally found what is probably the best anchorage in this archipelago. Hanatefau Bay, known for its clear waters, near the small village of Hapatoni, reputed to be the friendliest place in the island chain, also known for its craftsmanship. We were looking forward to enjoying this beautiful spot, and taking you along as we learn more about life in this remote paradise. Matthias is a beekeeper from Argentina and he helped me relocate my bees. We had a very difficult time finding the queen because of the false floor and the additional storage compartment in my boat that had a hole in the wall separating the initial storage compartment.
