Welcome to an Average Day In The Life Living On A Sailboat where we have a day full of boat projects! It's been a week since our water maker has been broken but we're ALMOST to the point where we can fix it and return to making our own water on board S/V Adventure Crews. The only thing that stands in our way is getting the part in the mail and replacing the broken pump. It's not all work and no play, we'll take a break to have some fun too! Thank you to WavesRX for being the exclusive sponsor for our April vlog series. They make a multitude of products for your boat. You can check out their products on their website and on Amazon. We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others. We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran! We hope you enjoy what we do. Please subscribe, like and share.

#HowToSail #SailingForBeginners #learntosail In this learn to sail episode I provide guidance for individuals new to sailing who want to crew on other people's boats. I'll share insights on what makes a good crew member, emphasizing the importance of initiative, communication, and efficiency while sailing. The video features footage of myself and Robin, working together to prepare the boat for departure from Tobermory in Scotland. Throughout the video, I highlight Robin's actions, such as retrieving fenders and lines, coiling them efficiently, and preparing the boat for sailing with minimal need for communication between us. Being a proactive and competent crew member is essential to being invited back for future sailing opportunities. Thank you for watching this video 🙏 if you would like to support future episodes, there are several ways you can support this channel. After a rough 4 day crossing, we entered through a narrow reef channel and anchored up in the middle of the night, not what you want to do ! We entered with no lights on to not draw attention as we were not yet sure if there could be potential pirates or malicious threats in the area. There is nothing quite like entering a foreign country by boat where your safety is not guaranteed. The only lights visible were distant fires from locals cooking their dinner. With what felt like a blink, we awoke with the realisation that we were no longer in the safety of Australian waters. There is no shops, no reception, and no way to tap out and get back home. We had anchored in an area we had heard nothing about, only picked off a satellite map, so we were anxious to meet the locals and get a feel for where we had landed. 00:00 - First Day in Louisiades, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬🌴 0:24 - Traditional Sailing Canoes 🛶⛵ 1:11 - Preparing a Gift for the Chief 🎁👑 2:38 - Exploring the Land 🌿🚶♂️ 4:42 - Intro Video 🎬 5:29 - Diving with the Locals 🤿🐠 6:30 - Learning How to Dehusk a Coconut Like a Local 🥥🔨 7:49 - Learning How the Locals Prepare a BBQ 🍖🔥 8:15 - Food Preservation Techniques 🥫❄️ 9:31 - Trying the Local Fish 🐟😋 9:56 - Learning a Local Game Called "Target Shooting" 🎯🎮 11:02 - Trying Their Staple Food 🍚🍴 11:25 - Reflecting on Our First Few Days 📝🤔 12:56 - Where to Find Fresh Water? 💧🚰 13:19 - Safety and Pirates 🏴☠️⚠️ 🎥 Episode 2 – Sailing the Louisiades, Papua New Guinea 📍Location: Sudest Island, Louisiade Archipelago, Papua New Guinea ☕ Support Our Journey ☞ https://buymeacoffee.com/onceuponareef Or 🎁 Send us a gift ☞ https://throne.com/onceuponareef 🌍 Follow us: 📸 INSTAGRAM: @onceuponareef & @wheres.poppy 💡 PATREON ☞ https://www.patreon.com/c/onceuponareef 🎥 Poppy's YouTube Channel ☞ https://www.youtube.com/wherespoppy 📧 BUSINESS INQUIRIES - onceuponareef@protonmail.com Hey there, we’re Ryan and Poppy, a couple of adventure junkie sailors out to explore the most amazing reefs and islands in the world.
