Lasciamo Whangarei versando qualche lacrimuccia mentre salutiamo amici cari. Ci spostiamo a Marsden Cove dove aspettiamo una finestra meteo decente. Il 1 Luglio arriva il momento giusto, lasciamo la terra dei Kiwi e facciamo prua a Nord, verso le Isole Fiji. La meteo cambia dopo i primi 3 giorni a causa di una depressione che si crea prima del previsto a sud dell'Australia e che fa ruotare il vento (che avrebbe dovuto provenire da Est-SudEst) a Est-NordEst. E' una traversata scomoda e fastidiosa, il vento e' incostante, rafficato e il mare confuso e incrociato. Quelle que soit la catégorie d’âge, dans l’ambiance festive qui caractérise le Challenge ! Les compétiteurs ne sont pas là pour rigoler. Tous les matins, ils s’affrontent en slalom, en géant, en télémark, en skicross ou encore en snowboard, pour espérer décrocher le titre de champion de France des moniteurs ESF. A ce petit jeu, les premiers podiums ont été décernés, ce mardi matin au pied du stade d’Arare, avec les meilleurs freestyleurs, en ski comme en snowboard. Les spécialistes de ski de randonnée ont également été récompensés. Et après la Compèt, c’est la fête… !! Avec du gros fun au programme En plus des compétitions qui se déroulent toutes les matinées de la semaine à Avoriaz, des épreuves ludiques ponctuent les après-midi au Challenge des moniteurs. Car une fois que les concours officiels ont rendu leur verdict, un autre Challenge se met en place : celui de la bonne humeur.

Sailing vessel Tapatya. I demonstrate some of the domestic devices on board my 32ft sail boat. We sail to a less frequented anchorage and then through a bit of a danger area to the town of Assens, Denmark. This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. At the time of writing, I've launched the boat and amn conducting sea trials. Entering the Mediterranean Sea through the Straits of Gibraltar, the Shards take you to the Pillars of Hercules, first in Gibraltar (Europe) and Ceuta (Africa) then continue along the south coast of Spain to cruise the Balearic Islands where they end the season wintering in the island of Menorca. Highlights include diving on a shipwreck in the Straits of Gibraltar, haul-out in Spain, recovery of a shipwrecked sailor, and a humorous feature on "How to be a Nudist" in the Balearic Islands. Next its an overnight passage to Sardinia, through the Strait of Bonifacio stopping at the Island of Corsica, then south to the volcanic island of Pantelleria. In October they arrive in Tunisia and voyage through the Sahara by camels. Next stop is Sicily before a rough sail to the island republic of Malta to hide from winter storms. Highlights include tips on watch-keeping and passagemaking, navigating the Strait of Bonifacio, and dealing with culture shock and foreign markets.

Mitte August 2020 war es endlich soweit, der langersehnte Urlaub war angebrochen und wir machten uns auf nach Heiligenhafen um zu unserem dreiwöchigen Törn in den schwedischen Westschären los zu segeln. Zunächst waren allerdings noch einige Arbeiten im Mast notwendig, so dass der Skipper in luftige Höhen hoch gewinscht wurde. Samstag Nachmittags ging es dann endlich los und Mystra segelte nach Norden Richtung Großer Belt in den Sonnenuntergang. Der erste Schlag des Törns war als Nachtfahrt nach Kerteminde geplant. Wir wollten gleich zu Anfang gut Strecke segeln. Außerdem ermöglichte uns die Ankunft am Morgen einen schönen Hafentag in Kerteminde, so dass wir eine Sightseeing Tour durch das hübsche Städtchen machen und unsere Vorräte komplettieren konnten.
