Dan Farmer, owner and skipper of the Sydney 41 yacht ‘B52’, shares the story of his epic adventure in the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Race, where more than 40% of the fleet retired due to damage or injuries. Dan explained crew selection, training, boat preparation and their strategy in the the first 36 hours of the race when more than 30 yachts retired in the tough ‘wind against current’, southerly conditions. Dan shares his thoughts on what went well, the importance of onboard leadership and an emotional crossing of the finish line. Grande première pour notre leonberger sur notre nouveau voilier On nous a dit elle est trop grosse, elle est trop vieille, un chien ça n'a rien à faire sur un bateau, elle va pas s'amariner.... bref vous avez compris quand on veut trouver des excuses on en trouve Mais.. Nous c'est notre chienne de famille, un membre à part entière, d'une intelligence peu commune, toujours à nos côtés ! Elle a compris que son territoire s'arrête à la passerelle. Elle a trouvé sa place à côté de son maître près de la roue le plus naturellement du monde. Elle monte dans l'annexe et attend que son maître l'emmène à terre pour ses besoins, sans aboyer, sans stress. navigation de La Ciotat à La Seyne Sur Mer je les ai rejoint en voiture, donc pas de vidéo de la première navigation de mes filles ... Nous avons décidés de faire le changement des haubans par une société. Il y a travaux que Loïc s'est faire et d'autres qu'il faut laissé au professionnel. d'après l'ancien propriétaire, ils ont été refait il y a moins de 15 ans mais 2 d'entre eux étaitent très abîmés. Nosu souhaitons aussi faire l'expertise du voilier avant le départ afin de l'assurer au plus juste. Nos avons été très satisfait de leur travail et il est à la hauteur du prix que nous avons payé. la particularité du chantier naval de la Seyne est le passage des navettes la seyne toulon toute la journée. il arrive qu'elles prennent en peu trop de vitesse et provoquent des vagues qui peuvent entraîner de la casse ... Nous en avons fait les frais avec un taquet d'amarre qui s'est cassé. Heureusement l'amarre était correctement mise dans le chomard et nous avons évité un incident plus grave tant humain que matériel. Ce passage oblige aussi le technicien qui monte au mât de calculer le temps de monter et de sécuriser le mat avant la prochaine navette. le conducteur de grue doit lui aussi être attentif aux vagues et faire la levée du mât au bon moment. Une fois le mât à terre nous avons verifier leurs intégrités ais aussi, changer toutes les drisses-balancines-ecoutes, les reas, le radar qui était HS, l'antenne VHF et la préparation de la future antenne AIS, changer les câbles pour l'éclairage, changer toutes les ampoules par des leds. nous n'avions pas pu faire les cadènes dans leur totalité au carénage cet hiver. C'est chose faite maintenant avec en plus le renfort sur l'une d'elles qui était vraiment très abîmée. La Soudure ça manquait. On ne releve pas le côté très pointilleux de Loïc sur les protections individuelles avec ses chaussures de sécurité basket, son pantalon qui lui protège bien les jambes et son t-shirt qui descent bien sur ses bras ..... je me suis faite une infection dentaire et j'ai été HS toute la semaine donc plus d'energie pour l'engueuler .... Il ne faut pas oublier la création du piano de retour dans le roof. Loïc est à ce jour le seul à savoir naviguer, et il peux désormais faire plus de 80 % des manoeuvres du roof en sécurité. En exclusivité, Neige qui s'est faite une copine leonberg. Elle appartient à l'un des sous traitant des chantiers alentours et elles ont passées une semaine à jouer avec nos filles. Neige devient naturellement la mascotte du Dekalogos et nous avons décidés de laisser l'un de nos enfants lui créer un compte insta. Il a demandé depuis longtemps d'avoir accès à un reseau social. Donc dans un premier temps nous lui laissons la création et la gestion. Bien que nous gardions un oeil dessus et verifions l'orthographe, nous le laissons libre de choisir les photos et le texte. alors voilà venir suivre l'incroyable @voyageneige ! In this episode we continue our northbound sailing cruise of the Bahamas island chain known as the Exumas. We first stop at an underwater plane wreck at Norman's Cay. Most people seem to say it's a drug smuggling plane....but we have other info that seems more plausible. We then head to Highbourne Cay and check out some nurse sharks and a grey shark. We then move up to Allan Cay, where we see another iguana island. Läsning är en demokratisk rättighet och därför tycker vi på Varbergs Sparbank att de här skolbesöken är så viktiga! 🧡 Med bidrag på 350 000 kr från Sparbanksstiftelsen finansierar vi alla böcker som delas ut vid skolbesöken! Vid varje skolträff läser spelare från Varbergs BoIS högt ur boken Åskan. Alla barn får sedan med sig signerade böcker hem för att fortsätta äventyret hemma.
