We bought a neglected catamaran in Grenada without a sea trial and this will be the first test of the systems. Then we will sail 2800 miles back to Texas to continue the rehab before leaving the dock for good.

The yard’s aim is to take the high-end approach even further with more volume, even better ease of moving around on board, special attention paid to the crew quarters, and above all, the possibility of maximum customization for each unit. Like the Lagoon Eighty 2, this boat’s sailing version twin that we’re testing in our next issue, the Lagoon Eighty 3 remains a production multiyacht, but the yard is clearly moving closer to the idea of pure customization. ► The new model obviously retains the fold-down platform in the owner’s suite on the starboard side, a veritable private terrace just over the water. On board, we were surprised by the unprecedented width of the side-decks that are very secure thanks to raised bulwarks and stainless-steel handrails.
