Recorded in the middle of summer testing 24fps. No idea if I had an ND Filter on, nor do I remember any of the settings. Motion blur wasn't really top notch so the shutter speed was probably too fast. Not really happy with the footage quality, but the weather and scenery was nice enough. And so was the ride. This ones more chill, enjoying the weather and all.

Aftermath: Recovering from two hurricanes In the spring of 2002 we bought a 1988 Bayfield 32 In pristine condition in Sorel, Quebec and named her Wind Dancing. For the next 15 years we lived on her every year from January to March in the beautiful turquoise waters of the British Virgin Islands. This all came to an abrupt halt in September, 2017 after two ferocious hurricanes hit the storage yard and destroyed 80% of the boats. This talk will examine “before and after” and how we are coping. About Rod: “In 1999 I was 60 years of age and had never been on a sailboat. Out of curiosity more than anything else, I signed up for the 4 day course “Learn How to Sail” with the Ottawa Sailing School. After completing the course I was totally hooked and convinced my wife that we should buy a sailboat. Little did we know that this decision would change both our lives and our bank account forever!”

We made this video for you in the hope that boat comparison is made a little easier if you are getting into the hobby of boating. Putting boats together in one video might help you decide on your next boat. All will depend on where you do your boating. In cooler climates, the Jeanneau Merry Fisher range has dominated for many years. The Merry Fisher has a closed helm position will keep you safe from bad weather conditions. In warmer climates, a closed wheel station can be a disadvantage. Boat buyers still prefer open cockpit-style boats, which American boat manufacturers first dominated in the early 2000s. A big problem for sport cruisers in the early 2000s though was most boats were powered by thirsty gas (petrol) guzzling v6 and v8 engines. Over the following decade many manufacturers turned diesel options. Diesel engines became even more popular, offering common-rail fuel injection. The difference in fuel economy between petrol and diesel is staggering. Fast forward to the decade following the banking crash of 2008 and the development of outboard engines with the new generation of fuel-efficient petrol-powered outboards saw the market change again. From around 2020 many large cruiser boats are offered for sale with triple outboard options. The predicted decline in small diesel engines used on pleasure craft has opened the door for even more possibilities. We will see a growth in electric boats soon, but that's for a future video. If you are in the market for a used sport boat, there is no better time to, as they say, "Grab a bargain" as prices fall further on gas guzzlers and slow diesel-powered boats.

In which I get TONS of work done on Ladybug. I cut out the bow cleats and begin filling the holes in the deck with fiberglass and thickened epoxy, strip the toe rail with Jenn's help, repair my electrical wire self-sabotage, and clean up the distribution panel (a little). And FINALLY remove the goofy decal on the stern. This was a good week. Ladybug is a 1976 Bristol 34 centerboard sloop. I mostly use a Pixel 3 to shoot my videos. I edit in DaVinci Resolve. We went into the harbor at Lagos because we had some visitors coming. While there, we met up with some other dutch cruisers. With our guests we visited Benagil to see the famous cave. We took a boat ride along the coast and this boat had an interesting way of docking/landing.
