First time I tried it, the low side windows went a little bit under water, so I had to stop and close them. That is where the little bit of water came from. No doubt those windows were totally submerged this time, because the guy pulled to fast. that salt water through the window wetted a nice but less than water proof flashlight, and the coffee pot fell over spilling coffee grounds, but that was all I had to show for it all at the end of the day.

In our final months of living in Qingdao, we finally saw signs of the advent of recycling; it started with large, complex and very fancy recycling machines showing up in random places practically overnight. Smaller versions of these were found on Laoshan Mountain hiking trails as well. Trash bins are all marked with recycle or other waste signs and in the malls, the trash bins are separated into 3 sections, but it's still voluntary to recycle. However, based on the local perspective, recycling will come into the home in the next half year and eventually be mandatory as it is in the Tier 1 cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. This video is our experience with recycling in late spring 2020. There may be neighborhoods and communities in Qingdao that are already recycling, but it has yet to become a universal policy. We hope that will happen soon! Additionally, we hope to see, concurrently, a push towards the elimination of single use plastic. We finish out our time in the Exumas for winter 2021, at least for a while. We may be back. We have more great time doing our big three activities in the Exumas - snorkeling, hiking and kiteboarding. The first frontal system we have had since Florida blows through, but doesn't cause us much trouble.

Cayo Arena is also known as Cayo Paraiso. It is a great snorkeling spot and also a beginner diving spot. Depending on the tide, you may find it under the water. That day, we reached it early morning to avoid the crowd. We shared the adventure with a few French friends, both residents of RD and globetrotters in visit in the Carribean. In the shallow waters of Cayo Arena, we have seen many different species of fish and stunning corals in the deep blue waters. Such a relief to see so much life in the ocean. To reach this paradise island we boarded a lancha (flat power boat) from the fishermen village of Punta Rucia on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. It is a good 2,5 hours drive from Puerto Plata driving to the North West. Punta Rucia is a quiet village with a long white sand beach stretching between the mangroves. Punta Rucia is lost in time … according to our friends who live in the country for 20 years, it may be comparable to what Rep Dom was 30 years ago. There is now a mini market and you can find food more easily as a tourist. A few restaurants are operating too. . For the down side the littering of the popular nearby beach la Ensenada is devastating. The local spirit is here, live bands and transparent waters, but the marine pollution is not under control. The restaurants use styrofoam plates and beach visitors let all their plastic flying at sea. We left heartbroken to see one of the best RD beach littered that way. We can’t say it enough : Education is key to fight the plastic and marine pollution.

I doubt Uncle Roger would approve since I am using a Blackstone Griddle instead of a wok but I think it turns out really well and honestly the wok we have in the house is non-stick and doesn't seem to get the rice dry as individual grains. This worked better for me. We recently visited New England in May 2022. We couldn't just see it from the land. We had to get out on a sailboat. We chartered one in Newport RI. Still cold in May up there! It was a great sail. Lots of well known people have houses on the water. Jackie Kennedy grew up there and we saw the house and lawn where he wedding to JFK was held. Great captain and crew as well. Next time we'll be in our own boat.

Oleta State Park anchorage has been the best spot so far, we do some fun activities and continue with the second part of our Rainman Water Maker Installation.
