The winds have picked up with the cold front that has come through and with it come more challenges to living aboard. Life onboard a boat at anchor isn't always glamorous, but even when it is less than ideal, it beats life on land. After we leave Whangaroa Harbour we head straight for the Bay of Islands to get another dose of white sand and clear water. While we're here we get amongst some Orcas and the kids earn some pocket money busking. We are a family of six who are taking some time out of normal life to travel. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a camper in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.

Langkawi is a beautiful island off the coast of Malaysia; it is a very relaxing locale with ample opportunity to enjoy nature through hiking the mountains or via the beaches. It is also a duty-free zone so beer, chocolate, coffee, and myriad products are found at a fraction of the cost elsewhere in Malaysia. We rented a motorbike for the day (be careful if you rent on the weekends as many shops are closed and you cannot get a good price) and cruised around the island starting with the Langkawi Skycab and then visiting two of the most beautiful beaches: Pasir Tengkorak Beach and Tanjung Rhu Beach. Due to the runoff around the island, the water is not crystal clear and you don't get the beautiful colors that you find in the waters around Koh Lipe, but Langkawi is safe and easy.
